In Korea there are literally hundreds of mountain fortresses like this. What makes Gongsanseong special is that its origin is from Baekje, though how much of these ruins are actually from Korea's Three Kingdom's period could be a matter of debate. Certainly the raised earth to form the fortress was began by Baekje. Older sections of the stone walls are in all likelyhood Baekje stonework. Beyond this it would be difficult to recognize Joseon additions or original remains.
Nevertheless, this fortress is important to our understanding of the long exctinct (678 AD) Baekje dynasty. The Three Kingdom's Period in Korea is fascinating, and for me whether I am exploring Baekje, Silla, or Goguryeo ruins I leave with a new respect for Korea's incredibly rich history.

The museum has many artifacts that were excavated from King Munyeong's tomb. The gold ornaments are very nice looking. There are also some bronze artifacts which are in poor shape and has turned greenish due to their age.

During the visit to a national treasure, one can appreciate the wisdom, skill and artistry of ancient architects, masons, carpenters. The tombs were so skilfully and scientifically designed. Artistically scientific and scientifically artistic artefacts during the glorious days of Korean kings kept in remembrance! Recommended for families.

I hiked from Gapsa temple to Donghaksa temple. Gapsa is easily accesible from Gongju and then from Donghaksa I took a bus to Daejeon, went to the hot Springs there and then returned to Gongju. The temples themselves are also nice and the hike is only a few hours and has nice views at certain points.

There was a old temple in hillside of Gyeryong-mountain where is famous with good view in Korea. The temple was middle size compare with famous temple, but there was very beautiful and harmonious with scenery. 10-minute walk from the parking lot comes out temple, and Climbing over the surrounding landscape and sound so beautiful. Parking fee 4,000 won and 2,000 won admission

There are several hiking paths near the temple so it is possible to combine hiking with a temple visit. It is also a nice place to do a temple stay. It is easy accesible by bus from the old intercity bus terminal and there are signs there with photos of key tourist sites and a timetable of when the buses leave. To access the temple you cross a stone bridge and walking to the temple from the bus stop there is a panoramic view of the temple. It is one of the nicer temples in Korea.

When I entered this temple, I could hear Buddhist music. This music made me comfortable and cozy. This temple was not big, but had good atmosphere. The sound, wind and atmosphere was good to me. I felt comfortable when I wandered this temple through narrow road in this area.

조금만 더 관리를 잘하면 좋을 거 같은데
입장료에 비해서는 볼거리가 조금 떨어지는 거 같아요..
자주 올거 같으면 연간회원권을 끊으면 훨씬 저렴하긴 한데,,
그런 생각은 잘 안들었네요..^^;
