A visit to the misty woodland???????????????????????? It was in the last trip of tadoba when we came to know about NNTR (Navegaon Nagzira Tiger Reserve) . After visit to tadoba we started collecting info from magazines and reviews from TripAdvisor. After a year we planned a tour full of excitement, inquisitiveness and love for nature to nagzira. Nagzira wildlife sanctuary is located between Bhandara-Gondia district of Maharashtra.Nearest National Highway is NH 53. Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is locked in the arms of nature and adorned with a picturesque landscape, luxuriant vegetation and serves as a living outdoor museum to explore and appreciate nature. This sanctuary has a number of fish, 34 species of mammals, 166 species of birds, 36 species of reptilesand four species of amphibians.[1] The invertebrate fauna includes, besides a number of insects and ant species. Wild animalsfound here are the tiger, Indian gaur, sambar, nilgai, chital, wild boar, sloth bear, Barking Deer, Mouse Deer and wild dog. Nearly 30,000 tourists visits this sanctuary annually. Wild animals to spot are the tiger, panther, bison, sambar, nilgai, chital, wild boar, sloth bear and wild dog. There are also tigers, leapord and one elephant named Rupa. We stayed in the FDCM loghut at chorkhamara gate. The fdcm resort of FDCM was about 20km inside the core jungle and the canteen was 500 m from the loghut (loghut is really recommendable for the jungle lover whol loves to get the feeling of amist wild greenery). When we went on for dinner to canteen we often saw deer crossing our way. It is to be mentioned that it was told by the caretaker that sometimes there is sightings of leopard and slothbear down the loghut area . There is a lake in front of the loghut and on the other side of the lake it is very obvious to sight animals as they come to drink water as well as hunt . For our first 4 safari we didn't see any member of the cat family but we saw variant of deer, wild dog, wild boar, sloth bear, Indian gaur and peacock in a very massive number .At the last safari we saw T-17 tiger (baby of Alpha tigress) in a place called gaur galli. It is a place of my tremendously heart touching . It is a very different jungle. You are just going to like it.

A pleasant surprise to see a waterfall at the place it was least expected. No hills nearby either. Better to visit after rains as waterfall gets its water from the river which dries up in summers. Good picnic spot if you are in the vicinity. Got a zipline which goes over the water and is really a thrilling experience. Decently maintained, though few tiled pathways could have work wonders for the visitors. If visiting during rains, do wear water resistant footwear and shorts to avoid mud splashes. Though few shacks are built nearby which provides water, chips, tea etc. its always better to carry decent, branded water and food. Entering water is prohibited so dont bother carrying swim wear.
