Phenomenal hike! Let me repeat-phenomenal hike. Rough road leaving to hike. 7-8 miles of potholes. Parking lot fills up quickly, but there is plenty of parking leading up to the trailhead. Trail conditions are fine. Hike starts with relatively level hike. Cross a bridge and you begin to climb for about a mile. You emerge from the climb which is mostly forested to views of Mt Baker. I don’t want to give away anymore. Experience it for yourself.

With Mount Shuksan in the background and the wildflowers in the foreground, Picture lake is, well, as pretty as, a post card picture! 1) Location - The lake is right on the Mt Baker Highway road and there are signs once you come close to it. We found that Google maps and directions were pretty accurate 2) There is a paved path for people to walk around the lake and enjoy the views of Mt Shuksan and the lake 3) Great place to catch the reflections of Mt Shuksan especially at sunrise or sunset. We visited in the evening at/after sunrise and were able to enjoy the calm lake and the reflections. Absolutely great for photography!

Glaciers, crevasses and snowy pinnacles make this area a challenge for skiers.
Great snow! Friendly staff. The scenery is off the charts. Prices for lifts are very reasonable (I think the view of Mt. Shuksan is worth the price of the lift ticket) and there is always loads of snow.

On our first day in the Mt Baker Wilderness area, we stopped at the Ranger Station to get our pass. The ranger on staff gave us a great tip on avoiding the weekend crowd while enjoying a nice hike.
