An extraordinary combination of nature preserve and theme park that comprises more than 75 acres of trees, plants, water and rocks combined with rides, picnic grounds, miniature golf and spectacular gardens.
We went in November and the park was relatively quiet. I can sincerely say that it was the only theme park experience with small kids that I’ve actually enjoyed. Nestled in the trees, this natural themed park was a delight to stroll through. It was also comforting that all the other patrons had small children like we did so there was less stress about keeping a vigilant eye on the kids at all time. I personally (forget the kids) loved the air balloon ride and the swan boats.
This outlet on the north west strip off San Ysidro Ave. has fantastic prices on sportsware clothes for active people, such as me. I especially love their hiking clothes that wick perspiration, deflect burs, wash clean, and look stylish at unbelievably affordable prices. Their staff, exemplified by Margaret, are friendly and knowledgeable and are a big part of why this is my favorite shop in the outlet. They even give an additiinal 10% senior discount on Tuesdays.
Fossil, an outlet in the same area has equally beautifully crafted designer merchandise. Fossil specializes in watches, wallets, purses, and other leather goods. Prices are up to 75% off in both places but always good prices.

Great small park with a built up portions including sports fields, stages, trails, nature walks and par courses and some more wild areas. Then there is the Garlic Festival the last weekend of July.

One of the oldest in the state. Celebrating 100 years. The Tasting is free and trust me you will leave with several Bottle. They sponsor private events and large groups as well. Catering is available as well.
Most impressive is that all the grapes are grown onsite except for the Champagne that is grown in Lodi.
My Facorite is the Malbec and Petite Shira.

We have visited wineries with wine we like better but never received the royal treatment by a family member who remember the old days told us great stories and took great care of us.

I'm not a great fan of wine tasting because it usually means jostling for position at a stand-up counter in a very noisy room away from the beauty and serenity of the wine country outside. Not here! Here you can sit at the outdoor counter or at a picnic table, well shaded from the sun but open to the view and fresh air. Lovely! We took out-of-town guests here and everyone loved it. The wine is good too!

Martin Ranch Winery is a family-owned & operated winery and vineyard located just outside Gilroy and Morgan Hill. For over 20 years winemakers Dan and Therese Martin have been crafting exquisite award-winning wines which have accumulated international accolades. The winery itself is located in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Whether you find yourself taking in sweeping views of the pond and hillside, strolling past Therese's organic garden, or on one of Dan's barrel room tours you are sure to enjoy your time at Martin Ranch Winery. We are open for tasting the first and third Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each month 12-5, and for general inquiries Monday through Thursday 9-3. "Our love of life, sharing great wines and food with family and friends, are what make the Martin Ranch Winery so special." -Therese Martin
I've been a few times. Joined the wine club last year, reds only. The wines are always hearty and well-balanced. They are open to the public on the third weekend of every month. Sometimes there is live music. There's aways fun people, lots to taste, and picnicking. The taasting room staff is virtually all volunteers. If heat bothers you, don't go July-October 'cuz it's boiling up there, little shade in the tasting area, and often little or no breeze either.

Okay, they work at a winery and serve wine all day so maybe it's a given they are having fun but we've been to many places where they seem to be going through the motions. Not here!
Lots of local information (ask about the family feud) and pretty good wine.

We were visiting a friend in Gilroy and we made some wineries . Solis was one of them .. Small winery with a great tasting room . The girl was very nice, and friendly. Tasting was $5.00 - Honestly, I didn't really appreciated their wine excepted for the Sirah - which was in my taste very good. There is a nice terrace with a fountain .

Nearby and convenient, for hiking, biking, horses, boating, fishing and camping by the lake. Short to half day hikes biking and horses allow on most, but not all trails. Beautiful view, lots of wildflowers and wildlife. The big three are deer, turkeys and wild pigs, but we have seen foxes, a coyote, and a bobcat on our hikes as well as the occasional hares and rabbits. Lot of birds too. Carry water always, it can get very hot in the summer.
