{Presently, horseshoe has not paid out much but its still a fun place to spend some down time. Food is exceptional at the buffet and the steak house is awesome with a great view of the lake.

There was a large variety of slots, plenty of blackjack tables, a couple roulette tables, but not a whole lot of poker tables. Four floors, smoking and non-smoking areas. Self-serve free cokes and coffee was a big plus! Slots that I played were a little tight, but as expected. My husband played 3-card poker and had a blast playing with Tiondria (?). Restrooms were clean, everything seemed welcoming and not too crowded. Plenty of staff ready and willing to help.

My 7 year old loves this place and always has. However, it needs a good scrub down. The amount of dust on the carpeted walls of the slide/ball pit area is disgusting. Each of the areas has great activities. My daughter especially loves the pizzeria/grocery/house area. The water room leaks into the construction room so beware of wet carpet!!

Great outlet for the candy lover in the family. The chocolate lover..the chocolate covered raisins or the chocolate covered pecans. Of course they carry gummy bears.worms etc. Too. Sugar free candy is in ample supply. Friendly staff. Can't go wrong here.

Community Veterans Memorial is a 6.5 acre park featuring bronze and granite sculptures, and life-size monuments to depict the major military conflicts that shaped the 20th Century. The memorial imparts a reflective and provocative vision for peace. From the trenches of World War I through the Pacific beaches and European battles of World War II, the extreme weather and combat conditions of Korea, the rugged brutal fire fights of Vietnam, and the sandy sea of Desert Storm, the memorial pays the highest tribute to all veterans. A commemorative brick pathway leads visitors on their journey through history. Individuals and groups are invited to take self-guided tours in which several stations provide pre-recorded information about the defining wars of the 20th Century. Guided tours are also available.
This should be visited by every veteran who passes through Northwest Indiana, preferably with family/friends as it can be overwhelming. A forgone conclusion is a visit to VFW Post 6448 in Dyer or American Legion Post 697 in Lansing but we managed to try a third option hidden in the industrial park behind the memorial (Three Floyds Brewery) and the entire staff made us feel more welcome than previously thought possible.

It's interesting to see the roots. Contrary to what you may read here, the neighborhood is not scary and dangerous. It's only about a mile off the Skyway and well worth a quick detour. There are no guided tours and it is not q museum. Go! If you think this neighborhood is sketchy it's probably best that you stay in your lily white suburbs in your gated community.

So many televisions, you can't beat it for watching the Sunday afternoon football games. I prefer to sit in the area next to the bar as it is a little quieter than the huge party room in the back. My favorite thing to order is the BLT salad. It is huge and I estimate there is close to a pound of bacon along with fresh lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and toast points along with a homemade salad dressing. It literally is to die for!
We usually go there for St. Patrick's Day dinner because the Corned Beef and Cabbage is probably the best in the area. Be sure and go early and be prepared to wait as the restaurant fills up fast. Last year we waited for close to an hour as more corned beef was being cooked, bad timing on our part but definitely worth the wait.
Their wings are great and there are specials during the week when you can get a really good deal. I also like the soup, it tastes homemade and goes well with the basket of cheese and bread sticks served when you first take your table.
The wait staff has alway been good, never pushy, remembers everything and always around to fill my drink.

Face it, who expects to see a gem of nature so close to an industrial and rail hub in Indiana but this is surely one.
Hike the trails, enjoy the lake views, and beaches. If you are still able to be,awed by the beauty of nature this place is worth a visit.
