My husband and I made a reservation to taste Cinder wines. The location seemed like a warehouse from outside but once inside the warehouse look gone and the feeling you get from the comfy leather chairs and the art on the walls and service and wine provided was excellent. In particular the young lady (Janissa(?)) was thoughtful,‘knowledgeable and delightful. We very much enjoyed the wine and the experience.

My husband loves sour beers so we were told about barbarian brewing. We loved the space and Jamie our beer consultant turned us onto some amazing and fun beers we would not have tried. This was our favorite out of all of the breweries! It is nice to try something a bit different. Very fun!

Coiled Wines - for those who follow their own winding path! Coiled Wines began in 2008 with winemaker Leslie Preston. Inspired by the stunning Snake River Valley, which elegantly winds its way through southwestern Idaho, Coiled Wines took it's name and remains a small-production wine label dedicated to crafting elegant wines from the Snake River Valley (Idaho's first grape-growing AVA). Since its beginnings, Coiled Wines has grown and developed into two labels: Coiled and Translations. Varietals such as Riesling (crafted in both an off-dry German style and a Champagne brut method), Petit Verdot, Syrah, Petite Sirah exist under the Coiled line whereas the varietals under the Translations label are as the name suggests...always changing! Leslie Preston draws her wine-making experience from the Napa Valley. With an M.S. in Enology from U.C. Davis, and professional experience from Clos du Bois, Saintsbury, and Stags' Leap Winery. However, when the time came to make wine under her own label, Preston and her family returned to her Idaho roots to source the grapes.
Coiled is a great stop to have on your wine tour list while in Boise – you can either stop by their tasting room in downtown proper, or head to Garden City to check out the production facilities along with that tasting room, as well. I had a chance to speak with Leslie and it is very clear she is fiercely passionate about her craft and loves sharing it with others. Her specialty lies in Riesling – and especially of the sparkling variety. Be sure to check out some of the photography on the walls at their tasting/production center – they’ll give you a glimpse into just how cool sparkling wine can be!

Telaya is located right next to the Boise River in Garden City. Sit out on the patio and watch bikers and walkers pass by on the Green Belt while you enjoy a bottle of exceptional wine. Our new space opened in early 2016, and we share it with another winery, Coiled. Our tasting room guests can enjoy wine from two Idaho winemakers with distinct styles of hand-crafted wine.
We’ve been to a fair amount of wineries for wine tastings but I have never learned so much as I did at Telaya – especially about the role and process of barrels (barrel making, storing, aging, etc.). It’s incredibly fascinating and just as nuanced as the vineyards/grapes! It’s very clear Earl and Carrie are passionate about sharing that knowledge, and that they love what they do. Be sure to stop by for a tasting – it’s only $5 a person and you can apply that toward a bottle if you chose to purchase one that day! We loved this place and can’t wait to come back again for more wine and a longer visit.

Meriwether Cider Company is a local family owned and operated hard cider company. We have a tasting room with 5-9 ciders on tap for drinking pints on-premise and growler fills and 22oz bottles for taking home. We have an outside patio and live music, food trucks, and other events on specific days. *Dogs and children are welcome*
We had a great time sipping delicious cider based drinks! The bartender was personable and gave suggestions as to which was his favorite.. I agreed! They had trivia and different card games to play, which I thought was creative and unique. My husband and I had some great conversations based on these simple cards and great drinks!
