Al Bidya Mosque

Reviewed By alansco - Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Amazing little Mosque that is over 500 years old! Originally thought to be the oldest Mosque in the UAE they have since discovered one slightly older. We visited enroute to our stay in the Intercontinental as it was only 10mins away. There is also a small Fort above the Mosque you can walk up to for a view over the Corniche. Staff were friendly and there is parking right outside.

Sheikh Zayed Mosque - Fujairah

Beautiful mosque - the second largest in UAE. Against all the Information on TripAdvisor the mosque can be visitted also by non-muslims - every day from 9 to 12 am. There is no entry fee and for us it was worth the long drive from Dubai. You can take part of a free tour of the mosque, which is very informative, especially if you have a guide like Maryam (hope I write it right). She explained us a lot of things and answered all questions about the mosque and the islam. Visit this beautiful place and enjoy the nice gardens.

Al Hayl Castle

Reviewed By plopamia - Dubai, United Arab Emirates

A lovely area, don’t get scared by the start of the road - any car would take you through - the road is partial (most) concrete but also partially rocky road but a sedan would work well. It seems in the middle on the mountains, although quite close to Fujairah city. It’s a rural quiet area and it gives you a feel of the countryside in this area of the world. The fort itself is the house of the great grandfather of the present Fujairah Ruler and is surrounded by the ruins of the small village that existed there. The guide (security guard) was very welcoming, very knowledgeable, and lovely overall. It is a good place to visit that takes you back in time and also closer to nature.

Al Bithnah Fort

Reviewed By 475vladimirm - Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Al Bithnah Fort lies next to the village of the same name, in the emirate of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. Al Bithnah Fort was built in 1735. Others say it was built as a result of Wahabi incursions in the area, following the Battle of Bithnah that occurred here in 1745. It holds a controlling view over the Wadi Ham and the village on the other side of the wadi. The wadi used to be the main route from the coastal city of Fujairah through the Hajar Mountains to Manama on the other side. It was restored in first decade of the 21st century. Al Bithnah Fort has a rectangular ground plan with 2 sturdy round corner towers on the side of the wadi. At present Bithnah Fort can be visited for free, although you will have to sign the guestbook of the guard.
