We were so excited to be able to take the 1.5 hour trail ride! We had two adults and three teens/tweens in our group. This was a wish come true for our 11 year old! Charles met us at the barn and helped us get ready for the ride. The horses were beautiful! Kurt was a great trail guide and answered many questions along the way. We were so happy to have found the Royal Horseshoe Farm. The kids are already asking about a return trip!

Be sure to go the distance because the view is amazing. You will hike to a summit which has an awesome view but be sure to continue along the ridge to the actual buzzard rock location. Look for the path the continues upward (almost doubling back but climbing the ridge). Bring water. Oh, and yes, good luck with the parking.

Caves in the Shenandoah Valley that feature anthodites, rare rock formations.
Compared to Luray these caverns are much more real! Small spaces at times, beautiful lighting, only a mile walk! Our tour guide Christina was excellent! She was well informed, funny, and had a beautiful singing voice( you’ll find that out in one section of the cave) We learned so much about the history of the caverns, the rare formations that are here and only a few in the world! Everyone in our group respected each other’s space and there was no problem with social distancing! The tour guides are allowed to accept tips and Christina deserves a big one! The gift shop has great clothing, glassware, rocks, etc. to choose from and things are packaged nicely for safe transport in your car. These caverns are a must see, and don’t forget to ask for tour guide Christina!

My husband and I were in town for vacation and visited the Welcome Center on 6/25/19 in search of hiking information. Nellie welcomed us and went well out of her way to find the perfect hike for us. She was caring and kind and listened to our needs. Her smile and effort was just what we needed. We went hiking on the trail she recommended and were so happy with the hike that we came back the following day to thank her in person. Thank you Nellie and Front Royal Visitor Center!
