Fowey (/ˈfɔɪ/ ( listen) FOY; Cornish: Fowydh, meaning 'Beech Trees') is a small town, civil parish and cargo port at the mouth of the River Fowey in south Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The town has been in existence since before 1300; the estuary of the River Fowey forms a natural harbour which enabled the town to become an important trading centre. Privateers also made use of the sheltered harbourage. The Lostwithiel and Fowey Railway brought China clay here for export.

We had an absolutely bird-tastic time with Sarah and her feathered friends. We went back in September and still talk about it now, occasionally doing impressions of BB (a Eurasian eagle own) who was just so full of character with a terrific hoot. I think the highlight for me was taking Loki out flying across the field. It was exhilarating to see what a fantastic and agile animal a hawk is, and to have him swoop down from afar and land on your wrist, it was extraordinary. I could go on and on about all the other birds, including the adorable Peanut, but just book and see for yourself. Sarah was a fountain of knowledge so it was a both pleasure and an honour to learn about these incredible creatures (and feed them!) We did the 'Close Up Handling and Flying Experience' and highly recommend it as an unforgettable experience.

Sightseeing trips around bay and much more.
We simply could not have had a better time. Dan was brilliant - we did the 3hr private charter and loved every second. We saw the amazing Fowey harbour and most beautiful parts of the nearby Cornish coast. We learnt about the local area, had a great laugh with Dan and the kids loved the experience. We went to a secluded cove/beach area where we (tried to) paddle board. Our kids 8 and 5 years had a fabulous time in the water and then we went on a tour of the river. Dan told us lots of helpful local suggestions re food and sights and the kids loved the ice cream shop recommended. Wonderful time and highly recommended.

Fowey is delightful, busy in the summer and popular with tourists, but absolutely charming. Wander up and down (steeply) to get there, enjoying the views and the old buildings. Potter along to Readymoney Cove (and view houses of celebrities!) or take the ferry to Polruan. Or sit and watch the traffic up and down the estuary and watch the world go by with a coffee or an ice cream or a Cornish Pasty!

This aquarium isn't big but that's reflected in the admission price. Its highlights for me are that all the sea creatures you can see are local to the Fowey area, all caught locally I believe, and we loved the Touch Pool where you can pick up crabs and starfish. We really enjoyed our visit here and would definitely recommend for an activity that doesn't take too long.
