Touring all areas in the state of Texas big and small and found myself drawn to Fort Stockton, Texas. I've been to some impressive historical museums in the US including The Henry Ford and Smithsonian Museums. This museum had things I've never seen before. It had an interesting layout with each hotel room having a different emphasis on the history of Fort Stockton. The historical society put together a great collection and told an all encompassing story of the history for Fort Stockton. Great Museum and I'd say worth a drive off the beaten path of the larger Texas Cities.

The cemetery is in the vicinity of the Historic Fort Stockton. Lots of old tombstones. Interesting reading about Fort Stockton in its early days.

Staff was very friendly and informative. Gave us a free Fort Stockton pin. Worth a stop to stretch legs to view the gardens, silhouettes and waterfall and then to pick up information on Fort Stockton including surrounding area. From here, one can walk over to Paisano Pete for photo opportunities.

Heading west on I 10 just past exit 135 is a very nice rest area. This 40’ statue is made out of recycled junk and is quite the site for pictures! It’s located by a very nice rest area with clean restrooms and a very nice doggie park.

We love historic places so we were happy to have time to do some sightseeing. The historic fort was really nice even though it was hot outside. It was easy to get around.
