David Hill Winery

Surrounded by rustic scenery, the David Hill Winery offers a number of wine varietals, and its dessert wines are a specialty.

Having toured numerous wineries in the US and France, I have to say I have a tender spot in my heart for David Hill Winery. The travel to this quaint vineyard is a lovely drive. The tasting room is inside a charming renovated yellow farm house, surrounded by hills covered with flowering fruit trees and fields of grapevines. The setting alone is worth a visit, but the tasting experience is a must. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and relaxed, plus every wine sampled was delicious. There's no pressure to purchase, though I imagine you will want to. We had an interesting experience comparing the same wine from two different years, which was suggested by our server. There are cheeses and snacks for purchase to enjoy with your wines. Picnic tables on the grounds are available to relax and soak up the atmosphere of this delightful place. This winery left an indelible mark on my heart.

Forest Grove Farmers Market

Reviewed By letsgotochina - Atlanta, Georgia

While attending a conference at Pacific University, I had some extra time and so wandered into the downtown area of Forest Grove. The Farmers Market is every Wednesday afternoon in the summer and is well worth the time to attend. The local produce is absolutely top-notch. If I lived nearby I would definitely make a point of buying fruits, vegetables and herbs on a regular basis. As a visitor, I merely bought a few baskets of berries and freshly baked scones. Fabulous! Besides locally grown produce, the market includes local candy makes, a great variety of local bakers, and soap makers. Additionally there were local public services ready to answer questions. Forest Grove also boasts some excellent wineries, though they were not represented at the Farmers' Market.

We discovered this gem on our way to Tillamook, just off Highway 6. We got a very nice, complimentary pour of their Pinot Blanc, a delicious wine. Tastings were a bit pricey so we bought a bottle of the P B and went on our way. The owner/vintner was giving people tours and seemed very congenial. They have a nice area to enjoy a glass or bottle and sell a bit of food. Beautiful spot.

Very close to Pacific University. It's also located right outside of Lincoln Park. The parking area is small but the field is well kept. Just happened to drive by and noticed the tall barber pole.
