With many species of wildlife and recreational opportunities, Withlacoochee State Forest has been named one of the "10 Coolest Places You've Never Been in North America" by the World Wildlife Fund.
We stopped for a quick visit to the Ridge Manor Trailhead on Croom Rital Road I would have loved to walk down to the river but I had my elderly mother with me and she wasn't up to it. They have a paved path, too. I hope to stop again and explore more!

At 46 miles in length, the Withlacoochee State Trail is presently one of the the longest paved rail-trails in Florida. With a generally flat terrain and many access points, the trail is an ideal venue for all skill and fitness levels of cycling, running, walking and skating an unpaved equestrian trail parallels portions of the paved trail. The trail corridor traverses three counties (Citrus, Hernando and Pasco), offering an enjoyable, varied journey as it runs through small towns, ranches and six distinct natural communities between Citrus Springs and Dade City. Officially designated as part of the Florida Greenways and Trail System, this State Trail is also a National Recreation Trail® which offers rich opportunities for viewing plants & wildlife and provides access to many other outstanding recreational opportunities.
We have done two half-day rides on the Withlacoochee State Trail and it has opened a whole new area of recreation to us. We have walked the trail on its south end, ridden it south of Floral City and now have ridden north from Inverness...MoreWe are happy that you enjoyed your outing on the Trail. We hope you will visit us again.

We stopped here on a Thursday checking out the town, the museum was closed but this gallery was open, nice. What a charming gallery in a lovely southern style home setting. There were many nice, artistic, and talented art work from paintings to jewelry. I did find an elegant sterling earring set with a blue gem. Just the right style and size for me. There were other beautiful earring sets which I had an eye for made by the artist who was helping me, a bit large for me but gorgeous. If you're in the area or nearby, make it point to drive on over and take a look at this charming place. If you have time why not enjoy their cafe; we weren't able to do this since we had lunch plans with relatives.

My friend goes there often and sends me fresh oranges from Florida to New Jersey. I went to visit her and she brought me to Ferris Groves. The store smelled delicious!!! We bought strawberries in season, tangerines, and pecans. They have fresh produce and local gift specialties like Jams and jellies and fudge! I then ordered boxes to ship to my sons in New Jersey. I ordered the petite honey bells and an assortment of pecans. It's a very cool store, with a very long history. I bought post cards that look like the 1960s. Looking forward to visiting again this summer.

Nice little nitch in downtown Inverness....rotating displays...the volunteers are so friendly and really knowledgeable about county history. I would highly recommend this as a nice way to introduce friends to Citrus County. I don't know that young children would be very interested in this museum....but adults will enjoy it!!!

Adorable little museum with friendly and informative (volunteer) staff. Open early for Heritage Days which is pretty awesome on its own. I love Floral City! Everyone is so friendly. The museum is right on the Withlacoochee State Trail. Admission is FREE and normal hours are Friday and Saturday from 10am-2pm. Definitely recommended if you're in the area.
