Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in the region, the Fayetteville Free Library building, where The Stickley Museum is located, will be closed to the public beginning Thursday, December 17, 2020. This means that The Stickley Museum must also close. Please check back here for updates during the coming weeks. Meanwhile, we wish everyone safe and happy holidays and look forward to seeing you again as soon as we can in the new year. The Stickley Museum explores over a century of furniture making excellence. It highlights the inspiration and craftsmanship that made Stickley America’s foremost fine furniture maker and the craftspeople whose commitment to quality led to Stickley’s reputation for manufacturing heirloom quality furniture. The eight thousand square foot exhibit gallery highlights furniture from the earliest days of Stickley up to the present, as well as a variety of images and archival documents illustrating the company’s journey.
This museum is a must for anyone interested in the Arts & Crafts era. The Stickley furniture is presented so you understand it from an historical and design perspective. Also on display are centuries old original pieces upon which the Williamsburg colonial line is based. The curator is knowledgeable and friendly. The museum is located on the second floor of the original Stickley factory, which provides a great setting for the furniture display. The Fayetteville library is on the first floor and has many Stickley pieces that are in use - you can touch and sit in them. The museum is open by appointment on Tuesdays and Saturdays during the pandemic, so be sure to call ahead. I was happy to receive a confirmation and instructions by email before our visit.

Green Lakes State Park's outstanding features are its two glacial lakes surrounded by upland forest. Both Round and Green Lakes are meromictic lakes, which means that there is no fall and spring mixing of surface and bottom waters. Such lakes have a high potential for evidence of ancient plant and animal life. Another special feature of the park is the 18-hole Green Lakes State Park Golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, where visitors can snowshoe in winter, and there are 15 miles of trails that cross-country skiers can use.
Brian's Landing at Green Lakes is a wonderful restaurant overlooking a Robert Trent Jones golf course. Stunning views and great food.

The Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation is dedicated to educating current and future generations about Gage’s work and its power to drive contemporary social change. At the heart of our mission is the story of Matilda Joslyn Gage, a progressive visionary of women’s rights and human liberation and an often unacknowledged leader who, with Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, wrote the arguments, inspired the passions, and organized the political action of the 19th century woman suffrage movement in the United States. Unlike traditional historic house museums, the Center is designed to be a place of inspiration and engagement. We encourage visitors to sit on the furniture, play the 19th century piano, and even write on the walls!

If you want a quick 18 holes, this is the place to play. I played with my family in November and had a good time. Greens were in great condition.
