September 19, 2021 Janette Largent

Birthplace of Boeing airplanes, Everett is a lively coastal city just north of Seattle. Its waterfront, once a highly industrialized area home to a naval base and large paper mill, has recently undergone a transformative redevelopment as a locale for seaside shopping, dining and festivities. The city's numerous parks, boasting free live concerts every summer, are excellent for hiking or relaxing, while the coast is a popular spot for sailing, water sports and whale watching excursions.

Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum

The aircraft, vehicles and artifacts in the Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum are rare treasures of military technology — a testament to the era’s engineering skill and humanity’s spirit during the world conflicts of the 20th century. On rotation in our working hangar are military artifacts from the United States, Britain, Germany, Soviet Union and Japan, acquired by Paul G. Allen and restored with unparalleled authenticity to share with the public. FHCAM is operated by Friends of Flying Heritage, a 501(c)(3) organization committed to educating people about these rare historic aircraft and artifacts. The museum is currently experiencing rapid growth, bringing in exciting new wonders like the Republic F-105 Thunderchief, de Havilland Mosquito and dozens of new artifacts in 2017.

This is great military museum. The museum covers mostly world war 2 and cold war military vehicles. Most are airplanes but there is a section for land vehicles, a small section for naval history as well and even a corner for animals. This museum is very well done. I highly recommend it.

This was our families first time here. We went for school field trips but that was with one kid and not all. My children spent over 3 hours wandering from one exhibit to the next. We went on a Sunday morning and there were minimal crowds. I think for a family of 4 it is worth getting an annual membership.

Nice park tucked back into a neighborhood. Walking bridge takes you over the train tracks to a great stretch of beach. Perfect for a long walk! Great view! The best thing (for us =) is that the north side of the beach is a dog park.

This park is above the railroad yard but the noise is not noticed as the views are stunning. There are places to sit and a tribute to Scoop Jackson who lived across the street. The houses across the street are as stunning as the view. There is no public restrooms but the architecture of the homes are wonderful. They recently completed an iconic walkway that goes over the state highway and puts you down by Lombardi’s Italian Restaurant.

What a joy to see the gardens all decorated with thousands of lights! The paths are well lit, wide enough for roll chairs and walkers. A lovely event for families of all ages. Everybody was wearing masks, and there was JOY all around! We even saw friends having a tailgate party in the parking lot, all well distanced.

Have seen a few shows here, parking can be tricky to find but otherwise a great experience. They also have an ice skating rink that you can rent skates at on the weekends.
