Redwood Highway

Reviewed By SailorSuzan - Seattle, United States

I recommend visiting a 'visitor's center' for the Redwood National Park to get an overview of the collection of land parcels that make up the Redwood National and State Parks so that you can appreciate what's left of the giant redwoods. Even along US Highway 101, there are easy on/off to enjoy glimpse of some great groves. Remember there is only 4% of the original forest left - hence the collection of small parcels, but still incredible.

Humboldt Bay Coffee Company

Reviewed By joniw8675309

My husband and I are big coffee drinker's and over the years have become very particular about what we drink. Of all the coffee we've tried, Humboldt Bay Coffee has remained our favorite! We prefer dark roasts and theirs are the only ones that don't have burnt or bitter flavor. Their coffee is rich, smooth and aromatic- simply the best! They have an awesome roasting facility and storefront located in Old Town Eureka. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area! This place has a cool vibe, great hospitality and beautiful products that are adorned in original artwork! It's a family business, and if you become a regular customer, you become part of the family! The staff is very knowledgeable in what they do, and you are sure to leave understanding more about coffee than when you arrived! Cool Place!

Old Growth Cellars

Old Growth Cellars is a boutique winery in South Eureka. Right off Highway 101, our working winery features a tasting room and an inside peek into our winemaking process. Try some of our handcrafted wine in a laidback atmosphere, three tastings for $10. Our tasting room is open from 1-7 PM Thursday through Sunday, and our large parking lot can easily accommodate RVs. Stop by any time!

Old Growth Winery has about 10 wines to taste, all of them really good! You pay $10 for three pours. They do not have food but you are welcome to call in a pizza or bring in a snack. The Tasting Room is beautifully crafted from old Growth Redwood by one of the owners. The Winery just started as an event center too. Wonderful addition to Eureka! I think the hours are Thursday through Sunday 1-7. Great place just to have a glass of wine too! My favorite is their Petite Syrah!

This building was absolutely beautiful and filled with amazing items to browse and learn more about Humboldt County, the rich Native American history of the area, and was staffed by friendly and helpful employees. The location was right in the middle of downtown which made it great for walkability and to be near many of the local attractions and restaurants.

Small zoo with very nice facilities, super clean and a fun variety of animals. Highlights; red panda, gibbon, river otters (adorable), red ibis, bald eagles and the most pristine captive flamingos I’ve ever seen. For $10 well worth stopping by for an hour or so.
