This is our new favorite venue. Honestly the back row is as close as the priciest seats in bigger venues. It's intimate and the sound is really great too. It's an old theater with the accompanying charm AND small seats :-)

Rainy Sunday night...what to do about dinner ? My husband said he was thinking Blackberry Bat and Grill which a friend had recommended recently...so, sure...why not ?
We walked in and everyone at the bar stopped talking and stared at us...we're not from Elburn and I guess they knew that...we were the only people in the dining room...Our waiter, John, was really good...Drinks arrived quickly, excellent quesadilla appetizers...crisp and hot.....Husband had a burger and it was HUGE....I had the fried chicken basket...very good. Nice crust on the chicken, golden brown and well cooked. Excellent cole slaw. I'd go back again.......

The Kane County Cougars have been around for years. Expect some Midwestern summer foods, a lot of families with children and between inning entertainment. The split-the-pot raffle is definitely a chance worth taking - I won $366 in August of 2016. Go on a fireworks night.

Visit our 230 acre entertainment farm located just west of Chicago in rural Maple Park. This unique Midwest farm is located on both sides of a country road, offering customers an apple orchard and Christmas tree farm experience on the east side and a good, old-fashioned farm experience complete with pumpkin harvest on the west side! The season begins mid August when the orchard opens for apple picking. Each Saturday and Sunday thru October customers can pick their own fresh, crisp apples right from the tree, while the aroma of fresh apple cider doughnuts, home-baked pies, fudge, pasteurized apple cider and hand-spun caramel apples from The Orchard Shop and Bakery lingers in the air. Browse the many specialty food and gift items too. Take a scenic ride around the farm on the Farmview Railway! September the west side of the farm opens for some down-on-the-farm-fun like The Maize Corn Maze: 5 acres of Illinois corn now boasts over 2 miles of twists, turns and clues. Stop by the Pumpkin Farm for hayrides, farm animals, a haunted forest, tractor tire mountain, peddle tractor derby, nature walk, jumping pillow, pumpkin picking and much more. Unique fall decorations available for your home from The Barn Store. Stop by The Corncrib Café for a taste of the country. November and December at the farm is dedicated to the holidays with pies and specialty foods for entertaining, unique gifts for giving and of course, Christmas trees. Select from Fraser Firs and Scotch Pines. Choose and cut your own or select from our freshly harvested trees. Visit our website for exact dates, times, coupons and additional information.
Was the last weekend that they were open of the season so decided to do the pumpkin side only (young child who needed a nap). Lots of activities including bike rides, tractor to pumpkin patch, jumping pillow (extra $2), burlap slide, pig race, petting zoo! Easily encompasses the whole day. You can pick your own pumpkin and then bring it back to the main area to be weighed and pay food. They do have wagons available for hauling the pumpkins if you pick one (they are big!). Can't wait to come back next year!
The apple picking was on the other side of the road.

We visited Blackberry Farms 3 times in July/August. Twice for their summer out door concerts on Thursday evenings and once for their Wine and Canvas.
We had an awesome time for each event.
The concerts are only $5 per person and it is BYOB (or Wine/Liquor) and Picnic/Snacks.
Wine and Canvas is only $19 per person and is also BYOB (or Wine/Liquor) and Picnic/Snacks.
They supply all materials needed. Paint, canvas, instruction and an apron!
It is such a pretty place and welcoming environment a great way to have an affordable date night, couples night out with friends and family, or just with an awesome group of friends/family.
I also saw a lot of people celebrating birthdays and anniversaries.
I will attend most of their concert events next year and would like to make it to at least 2 to 3 Wine and Canvas events a year!

We went and the place was closed. We did see this on the website so we were no surprised. We walked the grounds and there is a lot to see. You have to be watching for the signs or you will miss it. You park...MoreThank you for your review! We're glad you enjoyed the grounds as much as we do.

Set between corn fields in DeKalb county is a little taste of Tuscany. An expansive white bricked building greets you, inside is a beautiful tasting room and restaurant build of dark woods and exposed brick. A small rotunda with colorful murals lies just inside the front door. Just beyond is the stylish tasting bar. A pizza making area is to the right, where flaming ovens and tossing pies abound. The food is wonderfully Italian. The wines, of course are born onsite and are delicious. The Frontenac and Prairie Star were personal favorites. Vineyards are behind the building as well as across the street. Be sure to visit the Market in the basement of a house about 100 yards away. Wine and everything to do with wine are for sale. For serious wine drinkers this place is a must.

We spent the afternoon walking and enjoying the park and Fox River Walk. The park has a lot of activities for families. It has miniature golf, paddle boat rides, a water park, community center and plenty of picnic tables.
The River Walk includes a bridge to cross the river. The park includes areas that are available for private functions (by permit), including weddings.

I've walked along the river at Island Park countless times. It is altogether lovely. Through the years, they have upgraded the stone bridge and it's much more spacious and attractive. There are beautiful gardens here in the spring and summer. During the summer, they perform Shakespeare here and over Labor Day weekend, the Island Park hosts a folk music festival that is a lot of fun. I love seeing the trains pass over the river via the bridge. It's just an altogether wonderful place--one of my all-time favorites.
