The Elbert Theatre opened as a movie palace in 1940 and experienced many growing pains to get to where it is today. Since 2001 the facility has been operating as a live community theatre venue, concert space, movie theater and children's events venue.

Replica of the cabin shows daily life for this Revolutionary War Heroine. There is a group shelter, parking, picnic tables, some walking trails, a garden site, cabin overlooks the creek, even an old outhouse. Our kids loved the adventure. Great for a day trip. The Elbert County Chamber of commerce had DAR member "Nancy Hart" come do a living history talk for my daughters birthday party. It was fantastic!

We stayed in May for two nights in cabin #19. It was beautiful and the views, wow! I enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs having my morning coffee on the back screened deck while listening to the birds cheerfully belt out in song, and watching the boats meander on the lake. We had a trail down to a shared dock (watch your step going down) Our daughters fished off the dock. It had an outdoor fire pit area with picnic table, indoor fireplace, nice big dining table, a kitchen with many amenities-microwave, pots and pans, utensils, dishwasher, etc. Each room had it's own bathroom with bathtub shower. Quaint, clean and beautiful. Those views are memorable!
