Top 10 Things to do in El Nido, Mimaropa

January 18, 2022 Roseanne Arnett

Why settle for a beachfront hotel when you can stay right over the ocean in a cottage on stilts? And why settle for any old dive site when you can snorkel in an orchid-walled lagoon? El Nido is known as the Philippines' last frontier, and if you're looking for magnificent beaches in an unspoiled setting, it's a perfect place for you to vacation.

Marimegmeg Beach

Reviewed By llauraa- - Helsinki, Finland

If I would come to El Nido one more time I would probably stay at Marimegmeg. A 10min tricycle ride from El Nido Town is this really nice and lively beach with tempting beach bars, nice restaurants and even a few clothing stores. I would highly recommend the combination we had: taking a zipline that ends just near the beach, having happy hour cocktails and watching sunset and later having a dinner in The Nesting table within a short climb from the beach. Perfection!

Hidden Beach

Reviewed By oliveolc - Ontario, Canada

Go ahead, pack and fly to the Islands of the Philippines! Two ways to get to El Nido from Manila: A direct flight from Manila to El Nido or a flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa, once landed in Puerto Princesa, it is quite the drive to El Nido (private van about 5-6 hours). Once in El Nido there are various companies that offer island hopping tours. TripAdvisor or your hotel can help you find a good operator. The prices of the tour are widely standard… but wait, ask if there is an extra cost i.e. eco-fee, kayak, etc. Going to see the Hidden Beach was quite a journey. You take Tour C from one of the El Nido Hopping Tours (Tours ABCD). When the tour boat gets to the island and docks, you first have to swim or float in some deep water (to get to the hidden beach), then upon reaching the shallow water you can start walking in the most calm, clear and warm water you can ever imagine… keep walking (if you wish, start snorkeling) until you get to this most amazing and pristine beauty of the hidden beach of this island. Once in the hidden beach, step back, relax on the white sandy beach and crystal clear ocean water and enjoy the amazing nature until you hear the horn of your boat warning you that it is time to go and do more island hopping. Absolute BEAUTY! A MUST see and make a memory!

Taken here by boat tour A, the views during the Big Lagoon excursion are incredible when seen by kayak. The water has parts where you can walk, and then incredibly deep recesses as well. Making for drastic changes to the color of the water making the tour that much more exciting.

Taraw Cliff

Reviewed By ElpidaRo - Athens, Greece

This was probably the most challenging thing we did in Philippines! You will love it if you are adventurous ;) We went there for sunrise, and started around 4.30 in the morning. The hike up takes about one hour and it is pure rock climbing. Do it with a local guide, because they provide you gloves and torches, and help you take the correct path. Requires good physical condition. There are MANY MOSQUITOS in the path, so put on some anti mosquito spray before you start! Overall, an unforgettable experience!

We were simply gobsmacked by Lio Beach! A very well developed restaurant and retail area, all tastefully decorated with great food options. The public area under the trees is artfully decorated with swings, chairs, and tree decor. The public bathrooms are 5* - I felt like I was in a hotel! The beach itself is pristine! And one can watch the planes take off and land literally 100 m from the beach (about once every hour). We could spend the entire day here without being bored.

Seven Commando Beach

Reviewed By falejan - Mandaluyong, Philippines

Not as picturesque as the other beaches on the tour, but it's the best if you want some action. Swimming and snorkeling are givens, but there are other stuff to do around here. First, you'd think you can walk in knee deep water approaching the beach? Nope! There's a sharp drop before reaching the shore and so you'll need to be careful especially if you can't swim (like moi!). There was a set up for a series of trick shots for a minimal fee - just had to do this coz it was fun and I had funny pictures of the beach. But there are other picture pretty spots to choose from and they're all for free! You can even buy fresh coconut - think this is the only beach where you can buy food. If you're new to fresh coconut, you have gotta try this as it tastes so different from those in tetra packs or bottles. Best tasting fresh coconut ever! Plus they even have halo-halo ;) They also have a tree swing and you can jump into the azure blue waters like Tarzan. There's a line though as lots of people want to try the jump. The beach front is longer than the other beaches, so you can choose your spot or walk away from the crowd and still be just a holler away from your boat. And they even have a toilet and shower rooms! Yass!
