Densely forested and dotted with gorges, streams and villages, this valley makes for a stunning scenic drive.
Magnificent scenery, lush landscapes, fresh air. We took a lovely hike in the sunshine the fresh air was intoxicating and the beauty of the rushing stream below. The sky seemed to go on forever with awesome clouds.

Rare plants, exquisite orchids and charity tea parties draw visitors to this botanical garden.
I have visited Durban many times and I always head for the botanic gardens as it is the most beautiful place in Durban. There are always an abundance of flowers and the bird life there is amazing especially around the small lake, and of course there are the monkeys! This garden is a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours away from busy Durban and it is free!!

A fun fresh water world of slides and pools, uShaka’s Wet ‘n Wild caters for the adrenaline junkie and those less adventurous!
When friends from Bothaville visited us in Amanzimtoti, the obvious choice for me was to take them for an outing to Ushaka Marine World. Needless to say, they were impressed beyond comprehension with what they saw and experienced. The highlight of the visit being the dolphin show which was both informative and super exciting. They had their pics taken with the heroes post the show, and following a light snack at one of the many fast food outlets, we headed back home, tired but completely gratified.

I found this place on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a go - I am from Ireland so don't see a lot of exotic birds and as an amateur photographer jumped at the opportunity to get up close and personal with some. I wasn't disappointed, they have plenty of birds to look at, many are inside cages which some animal lovers may find annoying but to me, none of them looked distressed, they were all content and quite tame, some were even happy to talk to me. They have a regular bird display which is well worth attending, the trainer was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The entrance fee is very good value and well worth it in my opinion as this place does conservation and need funds to continue that effort.

Mitchell Park is one of my favourite places to go whenever we are in Durban. The gardens are very well maintained and Blue Zoo restaurant serves excellent meals. It is a great place to take the family. You can spend the whole day at the park. The restaurant is excellent and very child friendly. The zoo is also a pleasure to walk through. I would highly recommend making time to go to this park if you are in Durban.

Situated in Botha's hill the game reserve provided a different type of experience from any other safaris I had been to. The pathways were steep, narrow and not man-made, giving the traveller a completely different "touch". We came across impalas, nyalas, zebras and giraffes. There is a curio shop with amazing hand-made Zulu crafts and close by a restaurant which provides magnificent views over the valley.

To walk or cycle on the promenade is breathtaking and there a many restaurants along the way to stop for a drink or for a bite to eat.
