Only 25 miles west of Chicago, there's something for everyone in all four seasons at The Morton Arboretum. Whether you seek a quiet hike in the woods or an active family day out, The Morton Arboretum offers a wide variety of fun activities, events, tours, and classes for all ages and interests. Here you'll find an oasis of 16 miles of hiking trails and nine miles of paved roads, perfect for hiking, running, biking or just exploring. From a guided tour on an open-air tram to the award-winning Children's Garden and Maze Garden, to seasonal exhibits and lunch in The Ginkgo Restaurant overlooking Meadow Lake, the Arboretum is a unique place to explore, discover, escape, and connect with trees and nature.
We've been here during the summer and now the winter (for the Winter Illumination). Both times we've loved it. I was taken back by the cost to walk through a small part of the arboretum during the winter but after doing it, it was well worth the cost. The lights are beautiful. We went as a group and the adults and kids enjoyed it (even though it was close to 0 degrees). There are warming stations and fire pits along the way so you can warm up with a drink (adult drinks too) or by the fire.

There is still time to attend a performance of Joseph at Drury Lane. Just absolutely loved the recreated version of Joseph! We were not disappointed, but we were disappointed to see many empty seats in the audience at the normally busy 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. By all means all the people that stayed home and decided not to attend this production sometimes it is good to step out of the norm and enjoy an updated modern version for 2018!
We have been enjoying plays at Drury Lane since the early 80s and we are just blessed to have this magnificent theatre in DuPage County that continues to thrive!

Lilacs and Lombard have been going together for many, many years. Colonel William R. Plum had his Lilac garden and bequeathed it to Lombard after his passing in 1927. Check out the various events that are scheduled at this hometown favorite.

Such a fun experience and great value to visit the Tivoli. The price is half of the traditional theaters...as are the refreshments (and drinks and popcorn have free refills). The seats are comfortable, the screen is exceptionally large, and the venue itself has so much to admire and holds a lot of people. There is also an organ player if you go on Friday or Saturday nights. Hands down, our favorite movie theater!!

Oak Brook Mall is the best mall in Chicago's western suburbs and also one of the best in the Chicagoland area. Without a doubt, this is the place for all the best quality shops around and is a very successful mall. It is an open air outside mall. That's the only thing I don't like in the colder months, but in the nicer weather, it is great! This is the place to find quality and the service is usually consistently very good in most of the stores. Check it out!!

We accidentally stumbled upon this center while on a weekend trip. I am so glad that we did! This place is incredible! In the main welcome center, They showcase birds and reptiles that have been injured. There are placards on each cage with information on the injury and where the animal was located. Outside, there are several other cages with injured fox, owls, raccoons, vultures, bobcats, etc... I was amazed to see an American bald eagle. The enclosures were all impeccably clean and you can tell that these animals are loved. Behind the cages, there is a 1/2 mile trail that winds you around the perimeter and offers views that are breathtaking. You have to keep in mind that this is not a zoo. These animals are being rehabbed and some will never be able to go back into nature. I think the services offered at this facility are commendable. I will definitely be back again soon.

You have to know that this Brewery exists to find it. It is well hidden in an industrial park. The bar is in the front of the brewery with only a few bar stools and tables. The primary activity is the brewing operations. Beer is good and there are several varieties. Credit Card only when I was there, does not take cash.

When I first started teaching, we went on field trips to the mill every year. However, our numbers became high and they could no longer accommodate such a large group. Definitely take your kids here, there is so much history and it is such an intimate setting. The bottom floor where you see the inner workings of the gristmill is a documented stop on the underground railroad. Powerful pictures are hung on the walls and the mill's significance as this spot is explained. The floor above is the charming shop and where the kids get to see the corn ground into grist. All the kids love this floor, especially because they can get a souvenir! Pick up a bag of the ground corn meal and make cornbread together! Above that is a floor devoted to machinery and above that is a floor with toys and a child's bedroom and lots of hands on things for the kids to see and touch. It's a great day especially in the Fall!

Yorktown is a 2 storey mall with JCPenney, Von Maur & Carsons and shops like Bath and Bodyworks. Yankee Candle, Forever 21, Marshalls & homegoods, Victoria secrets, Famous Shoes, Aeropostale ...Sephora is inside JCP.
Food court with Panda Express , Sarku Japan, subway , aunty annie, Cinnabon, sbarro, outlets etc.
The mall has been renovated in some areas. it's good for raining days as it's mostly indoor compared to Oakbrook.

Tap house grill is one of my fav. in Westmont. If you are looking for peaceful weekend then you should avoid this place. Noisy, dark, crowded and some good craft beer. They serve some good appetizers and burgers. The chicken wings are one of my favorite(especially the spicy one). Must try their beer battered chicken burger with Merkts cheese,Pork Nachos, cheese curds..
