The visitor center was closed. You walk along a shaded board walk surrounded by hemlock tree, rhododendrons, etc. There Is silverthread fall very narrow fall and at the end of the board walk is a Dingman's falls..very beautiful. We walk to the platform to look down at the falls from the top. Worth the stop!

Camped at Lake Ocquittunk Friday through Sunday at the end of August. The good: we picked a campsite that was slightly separated from the others (T011), we had a nice view of the lake, and there were good hiking trails within walking distance of the campsite. The bad: Apparently we picked a pretty crowded weekend. Although we ran into almost no one when hiking, there were tons of very loud people at the campsites. Next time we will choose T012, which was tucked away from most of the people. The downside of camping at the lake was the you had to drive to the camp office for registration and for information. Many of the longer trails (Tower trail to Sunrise Mountain) had to be driven to, and you have to park on the side of the road, which wasn't easy in the large vehicle we brought. However, the views from many of the trails were totally worth it. Most trails are incredibly rocky (small boulder type rocks), not dirt (just a heads up). Got to see a porcupine which was super cool. All in all, it was a great time, despite the loud people.

Arrived here on Sunday am approx 10:30 am parking lot full and had to park on side of street, not a big deal. I wanted to take photographs of sunflowers but they seem to have disappeared in all the usual locations. Here largest sunflower collection on east coast. Spend 3 hours here. Very hot. They provided umbrellas for sun shade, very nice. There is a maze but you can wander around through, in between, around and see not only sunflowers but alot of wild flowers as well. There are some 17 to 18 foot Russian sunflowers in back , Only one blooming at time I was there but a brilliant dark red/orange and yes at least 17 feet tall. When I went through the first time, I came out and told the gentleman at the tent that I did not see the tall Orange sunflowers. Not only was he great with directions but he offered to personally walk me to the area. Mind you I'm 63 not some young thing. He walked me all the way and I got great photographs. There are some shade area interspersed with picnic tables to sit at. I would bring water or buy some for a dollar before walking in. There were lots of families, a scavenger hunt for them and intermittently placed boards for you to take photographs. Lots of dogs, all on leashes. I'm glad I did not bring mine too hot. strollers, elderly, children and couples. I do not think a wheelchair would go very far but could fit in first few hundred feet. You can purchase sunflowers, sunflower oil, fresh garlic, some books and a few other minor items. They do sell water, drinks and small snacks. 10.00 for adults, 6 for children under 4 free. They have an individual at beginning to describe and show you map of location. This is a family owned farm, well maintained. I would recommend without reservation. exceptional staffing, exceptional flowers. I will make this an annual event. I drove over two hours to arrive and I felt that the 3 hours spent there were well worth my time. This is a very large farm and it does not feel crowded at all. I do wish people would be more considerate and not leave their trash, bottles all over. I picked up whenever I saw some, better if you took out what you brought in.

Grey Towers is the family home of the Pinchot family. Gifford Pinchot was the first American born forester, and worked in Teddy Roosevelt's administration, before coming home to Pennsylvania and serving as governor twice.
Only the first floor of the house us open for most tours, although the entire house is occasionally viewable. It's an interesting place, with a vast entry hall, an interesting library and sitting room, and, out back, the best picnic table ever.
A separate building houses a place to view some short videos on the family and the house. I have to say I got a little chill watching JFK riding in that open convertible, barely two months before his death, when he came to dedicate the house as a national historic site.
There's a tiny little shop, with some interesting books and a few souvenirs.
I was surprised how many people were visiting on a weekday in October.

The falls are beautiful and everyone can enjoy them since it's not necessary to hike in order to access the most beautiful spot! You CAN hike but the most beautiful spot is at the bottom, directly across from the parking area.

My husband and I hiked here this past Friday. It was a beautiful walk with the changing of the seasons. It is not a particularly difficult hike any experience level could handle it. The waterfalls were not huge but they were very beautiful to look at.

When we stopped at the Dingmans Falls Visitor Center we were told by the Ranger this is a must see Falls in the area because it is the tallest Falls in PA. But once we got there, we learned from a Ranger on site that only the path to the very top of the Falls was open. The other two trails to view the middle and bottom of the Falls were closed for renovations. The only path currently open is very short & easy but all you see if the top of the falls; not worth the drive so skip it until the main viewing areas are reopened.

My husband and I stopped while exploring the area. The buildings are really run down and kind of creepy. We weren’t sure we wanted to get out of the car. There was only 1 small store with mixed art crafts; textiles, purses, ceramics, glass, jewelry, wood, some photo prints. If it were crowded, it would be a tight squeeze and definitely NOT child friendly. There were several pieces we liked, but who is going to pay $30+ for one small mug… Nice art, WAY Overpriced for what is being sold.

Have you ever seen a sprite walking? Well, I have. In a hand crafted world far far beyond Disney imagination. If you didn't think science could be crafted wearable art then go see for yourself how beautiful a silver and brass bug can be. All I can say is wear durable shoes and expect to have your mind blown. I never thought Things I throw away like old credit cards and bottle corks could be transformed, not recycled, into spectacular usable stuff or see nature redesigned from the mind of man.
Don't plan to try to compare what you see with what you have seen before. This is something all together Else. Then sign up at Peter's Valley Craft Center and learn how to do it. Or, ask how to volunteer to cement a bottle mosaic. This adventure is still growing. Ricky Boscarino I am a fan.
