By state park standards, this one is not too bad. It does not have much in way of amenities and the views of the lake are a bit limited (just really one access, you cannot go around the lake unless you go through the thick part of the woods). But, hey it's cheap, it's remote, it's clean so I recommend it for those who want a quick day trip.

We were back roading and saw a sign for Lake View, SC and figured with a name like that there had to be a lake. So, we took that road and I'm glad we did. We stumbled across Page's Mill Pond. The dam was constructed in 1782 and still stretches across Bear Swamp. In 1873 it was renamed the cypress pond - Page's Mill. We parked our car and walked around a little bit admiring the beauty of the place and even met a very friendly goose that followed us around.

We were driving through Latta, SC and stumbled upon this little park (Latta High School Memorial Park). There sat two historic buildings. One was the Vidalia Academy and the other was an old general store/post office. We pulled over to explore and read the signs. When we left Latta we drove west on 917 which dead-ends at 38 (turn right) and we came upon an old cotton press in the front yard of the historic John Hayes Farmstead (still a working farm) less than 6 miles from Latta. If you are in the area I suggest you check both these places out.

The "Dillon Welcome Center," is it is called by the state, is located at Mile Marker 195, just inside the SC Border heading south on I-95.
The folks there were extremely helpful. I told them where our SC stops would be, and before I knew it, she had rubber-banded together 6 brochures and 2 maps.
The grounds are very nice and clean. There were picnic tables there.

You'll know it when you see it. That is, there is a 50 foot "whirligig" present. Just in front of the welcome center building, you'll find a tall, imposing piece of folk art. The title of this piece is "Dive Bomber Duck." There is a sign present that discusses the artist and his work.
The grounds of this welcome center are very nicely maintained. The man inside was very helpful and friendly. The bathroom was very clean.

Gas, rest rooms, boiled peanuts, fireworks, pecans, pecan logs rolls, and everything else you'd expect at an over priced souvenir shop at the most iconic location on Interstate 95.
If you have never been here, you have to stop latest for the sticker to prove you have.

One of many shops located in South of the Border.
Basically, a "South of the Border" gift shop with loads of inventory - lots of imported toys and t-shirts - mostly low quality and overpriced. Nothing from Myrtle Beach - although they have "beach" type souvenirs. Nice place to browse around while taking a break from driving I-95.

A small shop located in the South of the Border theme park: a great place for fun, gimmicky souvenirs.
Why anyone would even stop in this place, I dont know. There is nothing in this place that that makes you want to buy anything, unless you are looking for cheap, overpriced souvenirs. Dont waste your time stopping here.

The souveniers you'll find at this small shop are fun, wacky and gimmicky: a great way to remember your time at the South of the Border theme park.
A South of the Border Souvenir gift shop with a large inventory of imported merchandise - not exactly items from the "wild west" as the name implies. Nice place to browse around while taking a rest from driving along I-95.

Fun, gimmicky shop located at the South of the Border theme park.
Basically, a "South of the Border" gift shop with imported souvenirs. Not a shop with merchandise from "Africa" as the name implies. The animal sculptures outside the shop tend to be those located in Africa. Nice place to browse around while taking a driving break.
