Awesome location. Golden beaches, stunning massive cliffs, lifting sharply from the sea. Takes your breath away - an amazing area to visit.

Mocha City
They have been doing a lot of work on the city to give a good impression of what the city used to be like. Add that to the spectacular views of Wadi Darbat and the ocean, and it makes this a must see in the Salalah area. There are also a couple of small museums. The amount of signage is lacking on the roads to the city and the second museum so that could be improved, but our GPS helped us make the right turns the first time.

One of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. White sand, turquoise water, coconut trees and mountain view. I was very lucky to have this beach completely to my own for a few hours- no other tourists around.

I visited during the offseason. The best part is definitely the view of the coast and the beach. The place is well maintained with benches and a wooden railing along the edge. It's definitely worth a visit!

Whilst the museum itself is quite small (only 2 rooms were open), and there’s relatively little about frankincense, it is a worthwhile museum to visit. It’s beautifully laid out, informative with some good videos. It provides a good synopsis of Omani history and the country today. The adjoining Al Balid archaeological site is also really interesting and huge (ticket covers both). You can walk amongst this site where archaeologists are still working, and the reference signs in English are very good. Lovely walk through and down to the pristine white village - and an hours walk back to the souk.

Go for it! It was a fun experience. My wife and I actually tried a couple of experiments. We had the car going in reverse up the hill, going up the hill and further، and pushing the car uphill...so light like pushing a shopping cart, all in neutral with no acceleration. Go for the experience.

Taqah castle is located in the old city of Taqaha about 34 kilometers east of Salalah region. It was built in the nineteenth century used to be a private residence for a tribal leader. During the 1960s the castle was expanded by adding the outer wall and towers. The rooms of the castle are now used to display numerous amazing archeological exhibits like weapons, pottery’s and other utensils.
