Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is among the world's best tropical botanic gardens. Here you will find internationally renowned collections of cycads, flowering trees, tropical fruits, vines, aroids and endangered species, which provide a living laboratory for scientists, and the opportunity of discovery for everyone. In addition, Fairchild has the largest palm collection in the U.S. and is also the keeper of the National Palm Collection as designated by the American Public Gardens Associations. With its beautiful paths, vistas and outstanding horticultural displays, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden provides every visitor with an unforgettable experience.
All though this is more a garden than a genuine botanical garden (most of the trees and plants did have labels so referring to botanical garden makes sense) the place is really nice and beautiful, quite large also. It has several large ponds and different sections (mangrove, madagaskar, tropical etc) and nice, easy walk around them. We also saw several huge iguanas wondering around, which is quite exotic for us coming from Northern Europe.
They offer guided tours as well, even in a small tram (I believe its called) which is very useful and nice for elderly people. We walked around the whole garden with a good map and instructions given at the entrance.
Garden has also small greenhouses and a butterfly house with hundreds of different kinds of butterflies flying around you. Very beautiful!

This is one of the most popular destinations for many of the locals and they have been there for many years. The strawberry shortcake is always delicious and worth the trip. They also have pick your own that includes strawberries, tomatoes and so on. They also sell other fruits and plants as well.

We love coming to the movies here as the venue is so much nicer and cleaner (especially the toilets) than at the Regal theater closer to our house at the Falls. Great sound, comfy seats, nice staff, really a pleasure to come here to the movies!

We went with a group of 30 kids and their moms during spring break. It costs $700 for 3 hours so we split it 30 ways ($25 each). I found that to be kind of pricey for what it was. The first hour - there was a small petting zoo area like you would have at a birthday party and they had two ponies to give rides. The second hour we ate a picnic lunch that each of us brought at their tables which are under shelter. They have about 8-10 little playhouses set up in the shade for the kids to play on during these first 2 hours as well. The third hour, we toured the larger animals. This entailed milking a goat. Each child gets to give a squeeze for 10 seconds. Then they filled the kids hands with food and released the goats to come eat. There was a cow and some little piglets, but nothing was mentioned about them. Then we headed to the corral to see the various horses and ponies they have. Followed by a walk through the butterfly garden. Overall, we enjoyed it since we were there with a large group of friends.

We bought the large bag of quality lettuce and it was only $1.75. There are separate lines for produce, bakery and the ice cream shop. Milk shake was just OK. The ones at Phil's Berry Farm down the road are much better.

This performing arts center featuring dance, music & theater in a striking, contemporary building, is conveniently located in the Perrine area of Miami. It offers a varied selection of cultural events at a more attractive price than downtown, without the traffic and parking inconvenience. In fact, the parking is free.

I had heard of this new park and decided to visit. Most people drive right past and have no idea it is a public park, because with the exception of a sign by the entrance, the property looks from the outside like a private residence (which it was until recently) There are beautifully manicured green lawns and foliage in a long rectangular shape extending down to the bay. We sat by the bay and just relaxed in silence as the sea winds blew. There were no other guests present in the whole park. I guess most residents haven't discovered it yet. There is not a lot of shade, so be sure to wear a hat and sunscreen or you will get sunburned like me. The historic house by the entrance reminded me of a home you might see out west on a ranch. Parking and admission are free. I have heard that there are lectures and other activities at the property throughout the year. I didn't see any "no fishing" signs, but based on the amount of fish schooling around the shore, I assume it is not permitted. We will return.

Just by chance we came to read about this historic place. There are quite a few small shops, some local artists have their paintings and stained glass pieces for sale. There is also a tea room, lush foliage, fountains and lovely canopy of trees all around the square. I can't wait to go back during the dryer, cooler months it must be like heaven.

My friend and I visited the zoo today and we had an awesome time. For a small zoo, there is a wide selection of large cats and monkeys. As part of the general experience, we got to hold and pet an otter and a baby monkey. I also bought a 10 minute interaction with the baby jaguar and it was amazing. The staff were friendly and the overall experience was terrific. I will come back the next time I am in Miami to have an encounter with another baby animal. It’s expensive but it’s totally worth spending the money.

Ludovici Park contains one of the few local nature preserves I had yet to visit, so I was eager to explore for myself. Near the saltwater bay, there is a large freshwater lake in the center of the park with water so clear it almost looks like an aquarium. Looking in the water I saw just a few fish (peacock bass & jewel cichlids) and 1 turtle. Fishing is not permitted and I soon saw why the lake was not teeming with fish. A large American Crocodile was leisurely swimming around the lake (the first one in the wild I have ever seen). The freshwater lake in the center of the park must be his own personal buffet. In addition to the no fishing signs around the lake, there were signs warning of crocodiles as well. On a mudflat by the lake shore I also observed a large flock of birds containing american white ibis, great egret, and a duck. Once the birds left, the same muddy shoreline became covered in a swarm of land crabs that began feeding at low tide and waving their claws. As I hiked the trail around the lake I observed 2 marsh rabbits (which most people have to travel to the Everglades to observe) There is also a library and amphitheater located in the park as well. I will definitely keep returning.
