This small sanctuary is peculiar for its greek cross layout, has been designed by the architect Battagio, Bramante's pupil. It features a very innovative design for the period.
During the visit it is possible to insert a coin in a very vintage phone and hear the legends of the miracles which happened at the site where the sanctuary was built.

It is worth to spend half an hour visiting the Duomo, the main church, of Crema. At certain times it is possible to visit the criptes.
It is surely present since 1000 ad and has been presumably built atop a pre-existent building. Peculiar is the bell tower where an octagonal tower is built on top of a squared base.

Piazza del Duomo in Crema is a real historycal place.
You can visit it with family and friends.
You can also decide to stay for an "italian aperitivo) sitting directly in one of the place that are in the square.
Have a dinner there is also really simple, you can find real characteristic restaurants in the little streets all around this place.
And if you are there during the christmas rime remember to visit it on 12 of December, they organize "banchetti di Santa Lucia", real traditional market for St Lucy.
If you are in Crema in August remember to go to the "Tortellata Cremasca", near to Piazza Duomo. The Tortelli Cremaschi are a typical dish from Crema, really particular type of stuffed pasta!

Another church to visit in your day trip to Crema! For those who like the excess of the baroque architecture it could be of interest.
It is in the city center, hardly 2 minutes walk from the Duomo. Lesser elegant on the exterior but worth a visit if you are interested in the local art (paintings).

Interessante architettura in stile barocchetto lombardo, realizzata in cotto, arricchita da decori e statue prospicienti via Dante. Suggestiva dimora patrizia in cui giocano volumi e decori. Proprietà privata e quindi non visitabile. Da dargli uno sguardo attento perchè merita.

This local museum has a rather enviable collection. A pity that the local authorities seem to be more interested in spending money to casually change the traffic direction in the city than maintaining the museum properly.
