Dingle Peninsula

Cant believe this is my first review of anything dingle related - it truest must be on everyone’s bucket list - the peninsula is very rugged and rural full of beautiful vistas and landscapes and peppered with ancient ogham stones cairns and clachan! And around every corner a wonderful country pub or eatery ! Go south out of Dingle as road is narrow and mostly people use this clockwise road route ;-) slea head is a highlight look out for off road historic sites We visited the group if ogham ancient stones at Colaiste Ide just outside Dingle town at Ventry ! A true highlight not to be missed is the visit to the blanket island interpretive Centre , amazing design very thought provoking and a place for mindfulness and delicious home made food in their cafe mmm rhubarb crumble :-) Everywhere you drive there are remnants of old so photo opportunities everywhere ! No wonder they filmed Star Wars there ! Just go !

Skellig Michael

First, you need to book this well in advance. They only allow so many visitors per day. I won't comment on the tour companies because I only have experience with one (and it was good). Some days the weather is too rough to land boats. Because the trips are booked full weeks in advance, you can't reschdue for another day. That being said, if you get a reservation, and if the weather cooperates, this is well worth the trip. There are a lot of steps, so being in decent shape helps, but I wouldn't call it trecherous by any means. There are plenty of videos that give a good idea of what to expect. Watch them and take that into consideration if you have young children or folks who particularly don't like heights, or jumping on and off a rolling deck, into consideration. IMHO the trip is well worth it.

How can I put this stretch of road and coast into words? Just breathing, magical, peaceful, beautiful, quiet, magnificent.... Take your time when driving and stop at all things you see. So much to take in. Take plenty of licsture but take moments to close your eyes, breathe and be in the moment. So many fun things along the way and even made some new friends

Gallarus Oratory

Ancient church built over 1,000 years ago.

Reviewed By WeDreamOfTravel - Texas, United States

Amazing original, 7th-century oratory. No mortar was used to construct it; the stones are perfectly fitted together to create the dry and solid structure that has stood the test of time. The area is very peaceful and away from towns. A parking lot and a small visitors' center welcome guests before they proceed along the walkway to the oratory. With only one window and one doorway, the cosy inside of the oratory is rather dark and free from distractions outside, perfect for someone praying inside 1,400 years ago. If you are in this area of Ireland, this is a spot you should consider adding to your itinerary. It's not every day we can enter a 6th century building that is in such fabulous condition.

We stayed at the airbnb, Dunloe Cottage, a short walk to Kate Kearney’s Cottage and Heather’s Cafe at the start of the Gap of Dunloe. The Cottage was spacious and magnificently presented and located a 10 minute drive from the Killarney town centre. Dan and Breda were welcoming and very accommodating. Highly recommend spending a few days in the Cottage as a base to explore the Gap, Black Valley and Killarney Lakes. Ideal for hikers/walkers, bike riders and rock climbers.

Went to this tour and tasting along with my girlfriend. It’s different from others we’ve been to as this distillery makes gin, vodka and whiskey. We got to sample some whiskey almost right away and then our guide David took us for a tour in the distillery to show us the steps in the process of making whiskey. You can tell that David is really passionate about making these spirits and his enthusiasm is contagious. The way he talked about the drinks they produce reveals that Dingle Distillery is really proud of what they’re doing, as they should be. In the end we tasted vodka and gin which was way better than i thought it would be. Would recommend this tasting to anyone!
