This is the finest beach I have visited on Ohio's North Coast. It is long and wide and sandy. It is very clean notwithstanding large numbers of gulls who seemed to be quite unafraid of humanoids. The water is clear and offers just the right amount of wading area before one is obliged to head into deeper territory. There are quite a few smooth rocks on shore and in the first 10 or 12 feet of the water itself but they are not impossible to walk on for those without proper beach shoes. The park itself is very large with two upper elevated areas with steps to the beach and with areas for various games - bocce, shuffleboard, soccer, perhaps other sports too (our objective was to swim and sunbathe so we did not focus on the upper level activities). There is a lower level parking area for those focused on the beach. A boardwalk runs the entire length of the beach parallel to the shore and about halfway from water's edge to the parking area. Behind the beach area and parking lot are plenty of picnic areas and playgrounds. This is a place with something to offers folks of all ages. it is very tidy and obviously well maintained. There appear to be some concessionaires in the lower level area but they were closed during our visit - it was a Monday toward the end of the season.

The North Coast WWII History Museum features regional memorabilia and exhibits that shine a light on the life and history of those who served at home and abroad during World War II.

The platform area is a great place to observe a variety of birds. Most of the birds that we viewed were ducks and Canadian geese, but it was still enjoyable. This is a good stop when in the area.
