Top 10 Things to do in Clapham / Battersea , England

November 12, 2021 Flossie Demartino

The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

This show was exactly what I wanted / expected from a Mamma Mia show - it was funny and upbeat with all the classic ABBA songs making it great fun from start to finish. The audience were all up on their feet dancing at the end. Great night for a group of friends or a couple!

The whole event was very good. Good value for money, the venue although under a train track in one of the arch ways was excellent and the trains were rarely if ever heard over the comedy. Drinks were reasonably priced and access to the bar was good. We just waited 5 minutes into each break to let the main flock of people bomb-burst to the bar and get served first. The venue was easy to find and travel to from public transport. The comedy itself was very good, there was something in there for everyone. A lot of content about controversial and current topics that had some people howling. We didn't stay afterwards at the bar but it wouldn't of taken long for them to turn it around into one as the staff were attentive and on the ball. Overall would definitely recommend going to this, it was a last minute booking for us and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Battersea Arts Centre

Theatre and performance venue with huge range. I’ve seen theatre, kids shows and music here but there’s seems to also be comedy and more. After a huge fire a couple of years ago they’re doing huge works but I quite love the old feel of the space as it’s rebuilding. I also use the cafe/bar outside of shows, as I live locally as it’s a great spot and often quite during the day for a bit of work.

Peace Pagoda

This pagoda is a gift from the only country that knows what atomic attack really is. This peace offering was their answer to the armed race between countries and their obsession to build bigger, badder and more destructive weapons. It's a symbolic gesture from the Buddhist movement in Japan that is building, donating and erecting these peace pagodas worldwide. One right in front of Whitehouse Washington DC would be very nice though.

Great spot next to Oxford Street. Professional staff and they really care of the quality of drinks. When the barrel with lager almost finish one of the bartenders gave me a pint of lager. But she knew that the beer last beer from the barrel doesn't taste good so she changed for a new pint. I don't think so that in diferent bar someone would be able to do it. Unfortunately I can't remember her name but she is liitle chubby smiling girl with long dark hair and she is really good what she does. She cares. Well done. Can't wait to have a drinks soon.
