the waterfalls is easily seen--as a matter of fact if you're sitting at a window, it can be seen from Jekyll's restaurant window, while you're eating--it make it different from restaurants--the food is excellent--it's crowded so that proves that it's a place enjoyed by many.

It was interesting to learn about Jews settling in America besides NYC. Exhibits were informative and the section on WW2 was well done. We toured the exhibit on our own, but there is a docent led tour twice a week. Several items brought back pleasant memories.

Chagrin Valley Little Theatre

Since 1930, Chagrin Valley Little Theatre has been entertaining Northeast Ohio. With two stages featuring musicals, dramas, comedies, improv, concerts, and youth programming all year long, CVLT is a unique gem in the Chagrin Valley.

Reviewed By ElaineAndGreg - Chesterland, Ohio

The Chagrin Valley Little Theater is simply a first rate community theater. They don't have professional actors, but they do have highly talented locals. The theater holds maybe 200 people, tops, and creates an intimate environment. No, the sets do not have a fat budget, but the actors have heart, raw talent, and a desire to please. You should have a fun evening here and there are lots of nice restaurants around town to enjoy a nice meal beforehand or after.

If you live in the area, I want to call out the terrific programs for kids up to high school. They do an outstanding job of bringing out the best of the young actors and making all of them shine.

This is a wonderful part of the Chagrin Valley community and worth a visit if you are nearby.

Beartown Lakes Reservation

Reviewed By ElaineAndGreg - Chesterland, Ohio

Beartown Lakes is part of the excellent Geauga County Park District. This park of about 140 acres is the southernmost park in the county. It boasts three lakes, over a mile of trails, and lots of fishing.

First, please note that despite the mailing address, this park is actually on the border of Bainbridge and Auburn Townships, about 7 miles east of Chagrin Falls.

This area was once farmland, but is returning to its natural state. The three lakes appear to be man-made, possibly as an effort to control the water flow for what was a boggy area around the nearby freeway.

In any case, this park has several places to fish along the three lakes, along with two pavilions you can rent. There are several trails, one that is paved over a good portion of its length along the lake. There are also attractive bridges.

The walks here are fairly easy as the land is essentially level.

This is a nice park and a good way to spend a pleasant afternoon, but the Geauga Park District has several more interesting parks, such as the Rookery in Chesterland, and several around Burton and Chardon, as well as the outstanding but more distant observatory park in Montville. These parks tend to have a more rural feel. Still, this is a pleasant place and probably the nicest in roughly a 5 mile radius.

We went on the historic Chagrin Falls holiday ride with Ladybug Ranch last year and we loved it so much we booked another for this year. We did our ride on Christmas Day in the late afternoon, and it was totally delightful again. I am ready to book for next Christmas. The beautiful black horse, Big Ben, was magnificent. A real treat for us city dwellers. Unlike some of the other reviews, I found the website incredibly user-friendly and very easy to book a ride and pay for it. This is an incredibly wonderful experience.

Look About Lodge

Reviewed By WHMeg - Willoughby Hills, Ohio

Our hiking group was able to take a peek inside historic Look About Lodge, a lodge constructed from chestnut logs in the late 1930s. Originally a meeting place for the Cleveland Natural Science Club, the lodge is now the responsibility of Cleveland Metroparks and is used by them for some programming. The Lodge is also available for rent (note that evening rental fees are very high -- daytime are more reasonable). With handcrafted furniture and handwrought light fixtures, the idea was to recreate a Yellowstone-type lodge... and they succeeded. This would be a perfect location for a special intimate retirement party for the outdoors loving individual or for a small special wedding.

Frohring Meadows

Reviewed By ElaineAndGreg - Chesterland, Ohio

I lived in this area years ago and remember this park when it was simply open land. Fortunately for all of us, the owners, the Frohring family, donated it to the Geauga Park District, preserving about half a square mile as a park and saving it from developers.

This is not a dramatic park. You won't find mountains or waterfalls. As the name tells you, it is a meadow, not a forest. It is basically a meadow that was reseeded with wild flowers and teems with local life. You will see a fair number of bird watchers (we saw a red-tailed hawk ourselves, as well as various finches). Depending on the time of year, you could see any number of wild flowers. But it is very pretty and easy to walk.

On that note, there are essentially two paths, one that is maybe a third of a mile (paved) that would be easy for almost anyone. There is also a much longer walk of about 3 miles that brushes up against the eastern end of Chagrin Falls.

This park also has an extraordinarily nice picnic pavilion with lots of stone, wood, and glass.

This park was obviously popular with locals and bird watchers when we were there.

This is a very pleasant park for a walk along a meadow and shallow wetlands area. We'd recommend visit towards the early or later part of the day.

North Chagrin Reservation

Reviewed By ElaineAndGreg - Chesterland, Ohio

The North Chagrin Reservation is large, accessible park with lots of natural beauty, lots of different sites, and something for everyone. It is well-designed, deservedly popular, and well worth a visit.

The park is very large, starting in Willoughby Hills to the north and snaking down to Gates Mills. The park covers several square miles along the Chagrin River and includes:
-An attractive pond and marsh, with well-designed and fun walkways
-An excellent visitor center
-Multiple picnic areas
-Tons of walking and biking paths
-Woods, creeks, and wild birds
-The remains of an old mansion in the form of a castle
On most days, you'll find everyone from families getting together to people walking their dogs to bicycle riders to people just enjoying the nice setting.

All in all, this is a big reason why the Cleveland Metroparks are one of the Cleveland area's greatest assets. If you come either early or late in the day, you'll see it at its best.
