The minute you walk in the door the wonderful meaty, smoky, aromas of delicious meat, especially the beef jerky draws you in. They have all kinds of sausages, and other meats to tempt you. They have the regional specialties. They also have very reasonable prices. Definitely worth the stop!

The Steinbach Haus was originally built in Alsace, France between 1618 and 1648 by the Steinbach family. This house is built with pegs so that it is movable. The Steinbach family lived in the house until 1988 when they disassembled it, numbering the beams and putting them in storage. The fachwerk beams were shipped from France to Castroville, TX in 1998, as a gift to the people of Medina County. The Alsatian volunteers came to Castroville and put the house back together, decorating it with furniture that was donated by the Alsatian people and shipped over. Now it serves as a museum and a visitor center for everyone to enjoy.
Had a great time visiting this Castroville information center. Everyone will love it because it's free. This house is a great place to visit and it shows the design of the culture that has come to live in Castroville. Will DEFINITELY visit again

We stopped here to kill some time. So glad we did. The locals use it for recreation but we discovered the Medina River runs alongside it. We loved seeing the Spanish moss hanging from the huge Cypress trees. Beautiful place.

We toured the pottery shop while in Castroville. It was very interesting. All the pottery is made by hand. The staff makes your experience delightful.

We throughly enjoyed our time at Medina River Winery. Matt and Ken were both friendly and very knowledgeable about their wines, which is exactly what you want at a winery. The wine was delicious. And Matt went above and beyond to make us comfortable. We hope to return some day.
