We came to Banning mills with a party of 10 . Our day started off by meeting our tour guides for the day , Zach and Mario . These guys were awesome ! They were like part of our group by the end of the day . We did the All Day Rush package . The zip lines start off pretty mild then at the second Level it gets to be unbelievable ! I can't believe that I've lived within an hour of this place and this was my first visit . We rode the Screaming Eagle , Big Daddy , Flight of the Falcon and we did the Power Free Fall ! All of which were awesome but very intimidating . I thought I was not afraid of heights until I walked across the 600' bridge . This place will test your courage for sure . Now my 13 year old daughter is begging for me to take her so I guess I'll be back soon . The lunch provided was great too. Thanks again Mario and Zach , I'll be sure to ask for you guys when I return .

Located inside an old Ingalls store, this place has been transformed into a intimate concert venue..Allowing concert goers to get up close and personal with some great entertainers. The venue is clean, doesn't serve Alcohol, making it very family friendly. The concessions sell plenty of snacks, and drinks and the prices are not outrageous. The venue is fairly small, and popular artist sell out fast. But definitely worth a visit if they are hosting an entertainer you like. If you are not wanting to make a long drive home after a show, there are a few hotels in the area. I stayed at the Quality Inn right next door...room was clean and reasonably priced.

Although run by the county, this park is kept very well. You can make reservations for overnight camping. You will enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the friendliness of the staff and other campers. Though small, the lake is beautiful and full of fish. The hiking trail around the lake is quite relaxing, while the picnic area is well tended.

Starting from downtown Adamson Square in Carrollton, walk down Bradley Street. There are signs along the way which are filled with history and pointing out landmarks along the way. The trail takes you from downtown's main square - past the old textile mill buildings (one of which now houses the South East Quilt and Textile Museum) and then to the train depot (which has now been refurbished). From here, cross the tracks and you go up South Street (past some beautiful houses) and then head back up Maple Street to the square.
There are multiple signs posted along the way and lots of old photographs on the signs dating from the turn of the 1900's and before. It is a great walk to stretch your legs and see some of the old Cotton / Textile town of Carrollton. When you arrive back at the square, pop in to any of the many restaurants (my favorite is the corner cafe) for some refreshments before heading along your way.
The walk itself is well sign posted and it's free. It's full of interesting historical details (I grew up in the town - and was surprised to learn lots I didn't know!) There are other trails that are able to be driven (further outside the city - check the website) and you can really get a feel for Georgia's history of cotton, textiles, and localised industry.

Wow. This place was super. When you first walk in, you wouldn't realize your at a range. There are high end casual clothing lines in the store front. The back has the firearms and related gear. To the right there are more high quality items before you get back to the mini-cafe and ranges. There are a half dozen lanes for multiple shooters with variable distance target systems. Well lit and ventilated I think there were 2 safety staff present at all times and willing to assist. Knowledgable, approachable and helpful. THEN you can enjoy the INDOOR 100yd range with remote cameras that show the zoomed target and your results. Wow. I took 6 business associates for an afternoon outing. Great time.

This is a relatively new museum in Carrollton (Opened at this location in the last 5 years), and is housed 3 rooms of an old textile mill. They specialise in quilts, but also any textiles made in the Southeastern USA. Exhibits change every 3-4 months and the entry fee is $5. There are volunteers that are available to show you about, and a small gift shop with gifts handmade by local artisans and members of the Carrollton Quilters guild. There is Free parking and it is an easy walk from the square (Adamson Square). This is disabled accessible via a ramp from the front and then wheel around the right hand side for the main entrance.
Hours are a bit challenging - Thursday thru Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, but if you have time to visit - please do!
The region around here has an easy walking trail - the textile heritage trail - as there were many textile mills in and around Carroll County. You can park in the lot (free parking) and walk following the signs around town.
Really, the history of quilting is a women's history. It's a history of needlecraft, sewing, and decorative arts - which many many don't participate in. I was pleasantly greeted and very excited to get inside as my father is a 4th generation quilter. I had the place initially all to myself (it was lunch hour and I walked up from my dad's house) and was shown around personally by one of the volunteers. She told me all about the latest exhibit - chenille - in all its forms and how it was made.
When I think of Chenille, I think of bedspreads. Only it is historically used in tapestries, aprons, robes, sweaters and much more. I learned that it is made by using thick embroidery thread - then clipping the threads on the front to make "fuzzy" textures in different colors. Once created, the cotton/linen that it is placed on is washed in hot water to force the fabric to shrink and lock in the chenille fibers. In the region, the chenille methods were used by the urban and mountain poor to capitalise on the tourism going to Florida - and bring funds into communities and families from Post WW1, the great depression, and beyond. (The south really didn't start to recover from the civil war economically until after mid-1950s).
The exhibit changes on on June 30 (closed for the 4th of July week). If you're into quilting, women's history, handcrafts, and local arts it is well worth a visit.

My daughter chose to come to Atlanta for her 16th birthday and we hose to stay at Lake Tara townhouses. They were great, we loved that the beach was out our back door and the pool was right beside us. Everything in the house was wonderful as well, although a couple of the appliances needed to be updated, but e made do with what was available. Shopping is only a 10 minute drive away.
Had a fantastic time!
