Just 12 miles southeast of Santa Barbara, Carpinteria (called “Carp” by locals) is a charming, coastal community with a pedestrian-friendly main street (Linden Avenue), mom-and-pop shops, gourmet cafés and antique stores. The pavement leads to Carpinteria’s sparkling beaches, including Carpinteria State Beach, dubbed “the world’s safest beach.” Beyond the shoreline, Carpinteria’s foothills and verdant mountains are peppered with flower nurseries, polo fields, avocado orchards and horse ranches.

Group space with friends, beach is beautiful, tide pools fun and great getaway. Santa Cruz was the area we were in thought there would be hookups, but amazing time nonetheless. Beware that generators cant be turned on until 10am so have a coffee option ready :)

This location is great for viewing seals in their natural habitat. They come to shore and give birth. You are up above them on the cliff. As long as you aren't noisy, you can watch them swim and sun. There is a little bench available to sit and watch.

A bit off the beaten track on a Monday night, closing at 9, so I had to hurry to get thru the 12 draft beers - they must have expanded since the last rating. Warehouse like feel right next to a train track, not really me, but the service was super, inspite of the near closing hour when I walked in. 12 draft plus loads of bottles to take away. I had some really nice beers.

This is a really nice museum full of local history giving you a real inside look at the city and how it started and developed. The docents are very knowledge and willing to give you a more intimate picture of the people responsible for the city's character. Not very interesting for the younger generation so leave the teens and younger ones at home. A nice cool place on a hot summer afternoon. You could spent one to two hours here.

The park is in a great location - Near the ocean, train station and downtown Carpinteria. There are some unique pieces of play equipment that children and adults too! - will enjoy. Just outside the park are some very special tiles that can be placed for many different reasons. The cost of the tiles helps with the upkeep of the park. Great idea!

The 52 acres of the Carpinteria Bluffs are one of the most scenic spaces along Santa Barbara County’s coast accessible off exit 85 (Ballard Avenue) on Route 101. There is a small parking lot The area consists of relatively flat walking and biking trails. Very dog-friendly. At the far west end of the preserve, there is a trail down to the Tar Pit Beach area,

I've never been to La Brea, but I've that it actually has pits full of tar. Carpinteria isn't quite like that. Instead of massive lakes, it's dried tar rocks, occasional tar springs, and occasional streams of tar you find here. They're nothing mind-blowing, but the tar still is interesting and the area is scenic, filled with rabbits and the occasional Turkey vulture. The park must be accessed by the Carpinteria State Beach…however, be warned: you can jaunt shoeless along the seashore, but the minute you're on the tar pit trail, you have to put your shoes back on your feet. You may not see an abundance of tar, but walking barefoot will cause you to accumulate an abundance of it on your feet.

This bike trail has just been constructed along the Rincon south of Carpinteria. The views of the Channel Islands and the coast are spectacular as the beach and waves are right beside you. The route is dead flat and paved in concrete. The trail is 3.6 miles long beginning just south of Carpinteria at the world famous surf break, Rincon Point and continues down the coast to Mobil Pier Road. From there you can either turn around or continue along the old, two lane Hwy 1 that has wide paved shoulders. Bring a snack or ride past the Mobil Pier to Hobson County Park snack shop for a snack and a drink. The ride is easy one for any age and the views are the best!

You are able to walk along a well-maintained path, and observe nature (birds, native plants), the sounds and scent of the ocean. If you time it right there are docent led tours. The peope we met were all friendly, and generous with information.

Palm Loft Gallery is a local treasure. you will find only original works of art by established painters and wonderful, but under-recognized artists. The setting is beautiful. the shows are lovingly and expertly arranged; a work of art in themselves. the artists' receptions are fun and free! treat yourself to an artful visit.
This is not a pretentious or weird gallery. This is a legitament and cool gallery with some of the best Landscape artists on the Central coast!
Very comfortable setting right next to the ocean. Arturo Tello, The owner of Palm Loft Gallery, one of the original members of the Oak Group, the first group of Plein Air artists, who paint to preserve the land. Palm Loft represents Richard Schloss, Larry and John Iwerks, John Wulbrant, William Mitchel and more.
Wonderful experience here, a must place to visit, art collector or not.
