Once an important center for sugar production, Puerto Rico's fourth largest city's current fortunes come from its factories. Intriguing nicknames for the city of nearly 200,000 include The Land of Giants and Arm Hackers Town. Situated on the island's north shore, this Atlantic city is considered part of the metropolitan San Juan area. Popular attractions include Carolina Beach, Casa Escute art gallery, Caribbean Raceway Park and Isla Verde Mall. To make the most of your visit, consider renting a car.

This 4 hour kite board class was the first one I've ever taken and it was great! Freddie, our instructor, made the experience so rewarding. His confidence and obvious expertise were very much appreciated and helped relieve me of my trepidation. He clearly explained the preparation of the kits, purchasing gear, required gear etc and made sure we were fully prepared. Being in the water with him was very reassuring as he helped get the kite up and helped us learn how to relaunch and maneuver it. We were novices, so really the idea of getting up on the board was only a dream LOL But the kiting was the real experience. It is obvious you need to be an expert at the kite before trying to get up on the board. But really, the school was very communicative when I signed up online. Freddie reached out by text to confirm and directions and instructions were provided. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back!!

Hector was an amazing guide. He took us on a wonderful excursion of a coral reef that was easily reached from the beach. After seeing a ton of wildlife on the reef, he allowed us to use his equipment to try to see sea turtles in another area. Highly recommended!

Balneario Carolina is long stretch of white sand just east of the Isla Verde area in San Juan. It has a parking lot, restrooms, and showers. There's a kiddie water park at the eastern end of the beach.
Lots of parking ($5), restrooms, showers, shade trees, security, lifeguards. Mostly clean (people are pigs). Beautiful, clear blue water. I was surprised to see only one food stand open, but better than nothing, I guess! We went to only one other beach (Pine Grove), which was fine, but this one was better. It's a big beach, so there may have been a lot of people, but it definitely didn't feel crowded.

I made the 3pm reservation same day in the morning for 3 people. We got there early so we went to the Mojito bar that’s located on the premises and on top of amazing mojitos, the bartender was great and super funny. The owner of the atv tours walked by a few times to make sure we were doing okay while waiting. There was another group that showed up on a bus and still had to sign their waivers so the owner told us to go ahead without them because they were going to be a while, then walked us over to our tour guide, Amir, I think was his name. answered all our questions, helpful and social. Even took this picture for us with this great background. Overall, for the price, you get more than what you pay for in this case. Two hour experience well worth it. Highly recommend.

Children's museum filled with interactive, hands-on, passive-learning activities. Complete with a volcano that "erupts" every once in a while, and a real jet that is open for "behind the scenes" tours.
We took our granddaughter and had a wonderful experience. This is a truly outstanding children's museum. What is more, the two 76 year olds thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Fantastic interactive exhibits, great cruise through the mangroves, friendly helpful staff. I have been to many children's museums world wide and this is among the top. You need a whole day to do it justice.

The white sand, the sun, the view, the breeze and the warm water was amazing. When we decided to visit PR we weren't sure of our decision. But we found a beautiful place with wonderful people. We stayed at Dreams Hotel Miramar and we had a great time. The people at the hotel told us about what we could do in Covid's time and we were able to enjoy our vacation. PR has plenty of beautiful beaches to visit. Most with white sand and crystal clear waters. We enjoyed our stay and will be coming back.

Playa La Posita is probably one of the better-known beaches in Pinones because of its accessibility. It's right on PR-187, and one of its distinctive attributes is that a long breakwater hinders the intense Atlantic waves from crashing into "La Posita", which translates as the pool, or the puddle. Its waters are similar to those of a pool: calm and cool, perfect for bathing without having to struggle with the waves' intensity. Moreover, you can park in front of the beach, and, across the PR-187, you can grab a bite in some of Pinones' best beach shack, like El Guariquiten.
