A narrow, one way road that is not suitable for RV's or over-size vehicles and that offers three miles of thrills.
I love seeing the city from above. This drive is not for the faint of heart. Gorgeous views on a narrow road. Get out and give it a try.

We really liked this hike along the river. The first 1/2 mile was the best, however, with the cool tunnels to walk through. We kept hoping to go through more, but after 2.5 miles, we gave up. I recommend going early in the day, it was HOT, and there is very little shade, except for the tunnels at the beginning. Also, watch out for rattlesnakes. We encountered one very close to the trail.

We visited the winery an hour. Store they closed. They had many people at their tasting counter so we had to wait a moment. They didn't rush us at all and all the ladies were wonderful. They have all of their wines for sale, and many other wine inspired items.

This was a lot more interesting than I anticipated. Gave me a strange feeling looking at an actual gas chamber and reading about those who were executed in it. Didn't realize that movies were actually filmed on the premise. You can either do the recorded audio self guided tour or take a pamphlet and read about each of the displays.

A suspension bridge 956 feet high.
We had just missed the Royal Gorge train as their GPS co-ordinates are about 20 miles oit. We were driving back to Golden after that and saw the sign for the bridge and visitor's centre. The centre itself is spacious with a great gift shop....MoreHello! Thank you for stopping by the Bridge and Park! We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your impromptu visit - this is a spectacular place in Colorado with beautiful views. We hope to see you again. Have a wonderful day!

The Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience gives kids of all ages the opportunity to experience science-focused interactive displays, full-scale dinosaur fossil casts, hands-on exhibits with real dinosaur fossils, skinned animatronic dinosaur exhibits, guided tours, and—for added family fun, value and lasting memories—a multi-story ropes course.
The visit to the Dinosaur Experience was part of a day planned for our local Hospice Kids' Camp. It was the highlight of the day. We had a large group of children and adults. The tour was very interesting and informative. The children had many great questions, and the staff were very knowledgeable and patient in answering all of them. After the tour there was the opportunity to participate in the ropes course, according to ages, take a short, informative stroll and, of course, visit the gift shop, which was great.

Although starting as a local museum, this place has taken on paleontology. The importance of this nationally and internationally is astounding. Telling the stories of local paleontology as well as the local and Dinosaur War Cope and Marsh diggers of dinosaurs in the 1800s, the museum presents the materials well. The tour guides are very well trained and the exhibits beautifully done. And it's FREE!!!!!!
The history center workers on the ground floor are very efficient at getting information to you when you research local history
A true gem in our world

We spent two hours in Red Canyon Park and never saw another person. We just parked the car on the side of the road and hiked up on to the Red Rocks. Amazing views and spectacular rock formations. It was very hot so bring a lot of water. This is a great excursion if you are in the Canon City area for a White Water Rafting trip. Spend the morning in Red Rock Canyon, then head to the Arkansas River to cool off!!

The rugged road--passable with 2WD--goes through a scenic, isolated canyon. There are at least a couple of picnic grounds, but the facilities are minimal. We were just passing through and didn't take any of the hiking trails. It's kind of hard to find from Canon City.

We are Canon City's only outdoor Flea Market with up to 70 exciting vendors with a huge array of products ranging from fine art, antiques, new/used household goods to Colorado native crafts and local area treasures. Here at BSTM, we also have Pony rides for the kids and some excellent food vendors serving up the area's finest BBQ and Canon City's best mobile coffee house. Something for everyone!
Free admission and free parking. This market faces Hwy 50 with access via streets at traffic lights east/west of location. Nice wide aisles with gravel. Booths had large assortment of items, cottage industry foods, rocks/minerals, pony rides. Vendors all very friendly -- spaces still available. This is a new weekend market and growing larger each weekend.
