BV is fortunate to not have the railroad running down the river. The scenery is very nice, and they’ve managed some very nice trails down near the river. A simply walk from Bridge to Bridge will suit you. Wander through SouthMain, see how nice they’ve done with that build. BV has it going on. Enjoy !

we truly enjoyed staying in the campground in this beautiful area of Colorado. The lake is small and quite popular among locals. We kayaked and it was perfect for kayaking or paddle boarding. The water was calm and the view magnificent. Campground was quiet and had self pay station, water and vault toilets.

Jumpin' Good Goat Dairy is a small family goat dairy and creamery that proudly produces pure, all-natural small-batch artisan goat cheese. Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains we do our very best to make sure our goats are happy and healthy, because the happier the goat, the tastier our cheese. Besides the dairy and creamery our farm houses our country store, here we invite visitors to sample not only our seasonal offerings of cheese but also other yummy goods produce right here in Chaffee County! Guests may also visit the store to sign up for one of our guided Farm and Milking tours. Offered year round our Farm tour is at 11:30am on Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Our herd is seasonal so that means we only milk from early spring to late summer, therefore our Milking tours are only available from late March to late September at 2:00pm Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Because we live in the unpredictable Rockies we will occasionally cancel tours due to inclement weather.
This is THE place to get good and fresh goat cheese. They raise the goats on the farm and made the cheese on site.

At Deerhammer, our distilling is steeped in whiskey tradition, but our methods are infused with curiosity and creativity. From our cornerstone single malt to our forthcoming bourbon, rye and limited run single barrel spirits, we're redefining the flavor-and future-of independent American whiskey.
We were driving through the mountains on our loop from Denver while a friend was in town to view the changing aspens. We have tasted Deerhammer before from a neighbor - and recalled that they were located in Buena Vista just as we were arriving into town. We quickly found it just on Main Street and so glad that we stopped!
We ordered the Wisconsin Old Fashioned (a family favorite as our family is from Wisconsin) and their Margarito to share between us. Both were fantastic - and such a great presentation! Both were quite delicious and had we have been staying nearby, we would have enjoyed a few more! They did have a food truck as part of the outdoor seating area; we shared some cheese tots for something in our stomach and they were pure heaven.
We will definitely recommend and return!

Easy to get to, take a few minutes to soak in the beauty of the Collegiate Peaks. Some of Colorado ' s highest peaks are on the section of the Sawatch Range. I wish I could see the peaks in all four seasons.

Buena Vista Heritage preserves the stories and treasures of Buena Vistas past for future generations. Our three properties include the historic courthouse on E Main, the Turner farm on W main, and the Depot and caboose at the corner of Hwy 24 and main st. Our hours are seasonal, and we are closed from October 1 to the Monday before Memorial Day. During the summer we are open M-Sat 10 AM to 5 PM, Sun 12 pm to 5 pm.
This museum is on E. Main St in historic downtown Buena Vista. Admission is $5per adult, $1 for children and there is a family rate. We happened to be the only visitors when we arrived and boy did we luck out! The curator, Mr Tom Tomson gave us a fantastic tour. He told us the history of the old courthouse, how it was used as a school and pointed out several objects with interesting stories. Downstairs is a schoolroom, fashion room, industry room. A wonderful working player piano from the early 1900's sits in the hallway. Upstairs there is a fantastic historical model train display that showcases the railway from Leadville to Canon City. The historical objects from the area are great, but hearing the stories are what made it special! We spent about 90 min here.

The BV Boulder Garden is a world-class, free-to-the-public bouldering park for the climbing community and those want to try out climbing/ bouldering.
We stubbled upon this small but surprise garden of "boulders" while walking south along the "RiverSide Trail" from Buena Vista Whitewater Park to a newly constructed area called South Main Town Square.
If you are driving from Hwy 24, turn east onto Main St & go through the old town of Buena Vista. Keep on going east while looking for "south main st" where you'll then turn right. The road will wind south to where this garden is somewhat hidden on a very small street called Swift Circle. Nice place to get out & stretch your legs. Once in the garden you can gaze across the "Arkansas River" to the "Barbara Whipple Trail" & enjoy watching the white water rafting parties float by.
Stroll around & notice the newly built homes & businesses of the South MainTown Square area. Appealing architecture, landscapes & flowers.
The Boulder Garden is comprised of a picnic tables, small trees & a grassy areas that has a assortment of designed boulders w/ ropes. Buena Vista has been said to be a rock climbing destination. A second park called South Main Town Square, across from Eddyline Resturant & Brewery, also provides large boulders for the general public /climbing community to enjoy practicing their climbing skills on.
Boulder Garden didn't appear to have water or bathroom facilities. Quiet & tranquil, Good for reading a book or taking a nap under the trees in this pastoral community.
Great photography opportunities of the Collegiate Peaks & Arkansas River.

I normally don't care for city parks but this place is different. It is quiet and peaceful, even though it is conveniently located near the main intersection. It is perfect for young children and adults of all ages. When we visit Buena Vista annually, my wife and I spend a little time most evenings sitting in the shade under the huge trees while our little girl plays on the coiled spring rides. She loves the park more than we do. Yesterday, families were picnicking on the grass while kids were fishing in the stream that runs through the park. We love to go there and soak in the pastoral beauty, the peace, and the quiet.

Two of Colorado's 58 14ers can be accessed from this trailhead (North Cottonwood Creek Trailhead). Mt. Harvard is 14,420 feet and Mt. Columbia is 14,073 feet.
Nothing can compare with the beauty and striking contrasts of the mountains when viewed from the flats. This is a must see for all.

14,003 foot mountain in the Sawatch range of Colorado. One of Colorado's 58 14ers
Obviously; if one can, hiking/camping this peak is the most intimate way to experience its grandeur. If one has limited mobility; this is still an incredible peak to drive around, and view its magnificent presence (even from somewhat of a distance).
