Sarah was awesome! She explained all the wines very efficiently, and didn’t pass judgment on us ‘sweet’ wine connoisseurs.
However my daughter-in-law prefers very red dry wines and she said that they were some of the best wines she has ever had. And given her expertise and how many types of wine that would entail, that says quite a lot. We will definitely be back for a Friday night dinner. All the wines we tasted were excellent. There is a five dollar charge for a five choice winetasting, but they are free poured and Sarah did not chinch on the amounts.

Big Brown Fish & Pay Lakes

Big Brown Fish & Pay Lakes offers 3 ponds for fee-fishing. They are stocked weekly with trout and bass from our own farm. Great fishing for all ages!

Reviewed By Anna V - Stevensville, Maryland, United States

We took our 4 boys, ages 9-14, fishing for trout and bass. We brought our own poles and bought a container of worms there. We also brought our own rag and a pair of fish pliers to remove the hooks from the fish mouths.
There are three ponds, easy, medium and hard. We started at the medium effort pond, but after 20 minutes of no fish, we moved to the easy pond. You might think that the fish would be smaller in the easy pond, but not true. They all have large trout and bass. In the medium and easy ponds you can see the fish swimming around. In the easy pond, the fish are fin to fin. We saw one little boy scoop one out with a net, no pole needed. There are orange trout and black trout (not sure of their real names, but that is what we called them). The boys caught a fish every few minutes in the easy pond. And they were big fish. Our biggest trout was about 6 pounds. We had to make the boys stop fishing, because you have to keep what you catch and pay for it. In the easy pond you can end up with a ridiculous amount of fish before you know it. We should have moved to the medium pond after a few fish. They wanted to continue to fish, but we knew we had too many to eat as it was. We ended up with about 10-12 fish. We had the nice girl filet them for us. We spent about $120 for the fish, which seems like a lot but now we have fish to eat for the year! We fried up one fish for dinner and still have about 10 times that left.
The staff were very nice and friendly. We would definitely come back and certainly recommend this for families with all ages of kids. We saw little ones about 3 years old catching fish. My kids would have loved that at that age. They loved it at this age. They asked to go back again the day after, but we have too many fish!! A great time!

We went during their annual harvest fest and it was amazing. My 21 month old daughter loved the animals and running around the farm. She really enjoyed the pony rides as well. The fresh baked cookies, bread and pretzels are a must. The beekeeper show for kids was also fun. They have great food, music and lots of fun things for kids to do and it was only a $10 admission fee wth kids under 3 free. They also have homemade ice cream, pickles, desserts etc. There is a shuttle from the parking lot to the farm as well.

I've been here a few times. Nice place, very laid back. Dart board in the corner, plenty of TVs with sports or other stuff on.

Beer is good priced and an OK selection (Yeungling, Goose Island, etc). Liquor selection is the basics, Jim Beam, J&B, Wild Turkey. No high end brands that I could see.

The staff is great. The bartender is fantastic. On my second visit she not only greeted me by name, she new what I was drinking.

The group I was with had wings and fries and said the wings are really good.

Nice place to hang out for a while and relax. Smoking is allowed, so if it bothers you, don't go.

Great waterpark. Tons for the kids to do; swim up bar for adults. The way that they issue tickets is very unorganized with people standing on line to be served at 3 window. This process must cause huge backups in the lines. Should be redesigned.

Vineyard hopping on a rainy Saturday, we took a winding turn to an unknown spot. It was not very commercialized or crowded, though tastings seemed busy. We met the most interesting owner Millie and family. Son Dominic was so informative, lending to an amazing educational experience. We did not want to leave! The wine samplings were outstanding; probably some of the best we've tasted in all of PA. The structure was designed and built by the darling Italian/German rooted family. They "get it" --what it means to entertain with fine wine and good conversation. They made us feel like we were part of the family and welcomed us back any time. They weren't trying to impress us, but simply treated us like we old friends. This is unlike any other experience, so please take our advice. TRY the wine, experience good company, learn all about wines around the world, and buy a CASE of the most affordable and delicious wines in PA.
*Italian soup and antipasto on Saturday nights. Abundanza!
