This old-fashioned toy store is filled floor to ceiling with hard-to-find classic toys and books, puzzles and pedal cars. You'll feel like you've stepped back into your childhood as you search for nostalgic toys and discover those storybooks your grandmother used to read to you. A delightful collection of children's toys, classic storybooks, and dress-up clothes. Old timey pedal cars, Gund, Mary Meyer, and Jellycat plush animals, Radio Flyer wagons and tricycles fill the rooms of this charming old house. Hape and HABA wooden toys, rocking horses, jack-in-the-boxes, spinning tops, Madame Alexander and Corolle baby dolls, etc. Betsy Newman, the owner, was a Kindergarten teacher before opening this toy and book store. Now she just plays all day :) REGULAR HOURS: Wed-Thurs-Fri-Sat 10-4. EXTENDED HOURS during Bluebonnet Season and Christmas.
While we stayed in Brenham , Texas for a week stopped by this Wonderful Toy, Book, and Doll Shop, The Owner Betsy is quite Friendly and Knowledgeable about her items for sale. If she does not have it I bet she could order it for you. This is in her Grandparents 1960's style home now converted into this Store. Here items for sale are delightful and a nice selection of Items. If you like Madam Alexander Dolls she has those too. If you are nearby such as Houston come on up and buy your children some wonderful things with such a large selection and its a Real Toy Store. Recommended , Clyde

Tours are available upon request and the house is also now open as a bed & breakfast. The Ross Carroll Bennett House was built in 1898 and is a Registered Texas Historical Landmark as well as part of the Downtown Brenham Historical District and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The home showcases original and period antique furniture.
We stayed one night in the master suite which was fabulous! The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The linens are exquisite! We were greeted with a happy hour upon arrival which was a super nice treat! We received a grand tour of this beautiful 1898 built mansion. Cynthia gave us a lot of the history of the home and furnishings. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! Eggs Benedict that can’t be beat along with many sides to compliment the main course. Cynthia was a joy to visit with and made our trip wonderful! We will return next time we are in the area!

We were lucky on the day in December when we visited we had the place all to ourselves and the Firefighters were there Decorating the Working Moving Antique Fire Engines for the Christmas Parade the following weekend and for Fire Engine Rides. Several of the Firefighters were there, very nice and interesting people. We got to watch a Video about the History of the Brenham Fire Department. They even opened up the Display for the earliest Horse Drawn Fire Device where there are only 3 of these type left. Very nice and kind Men. We got the grand tour. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !
