This listing is for the casino. We also have listings for the accommodation and restaurant(s) on the property.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 days during the week of March 10-13. From check in to check out, things went very smoothly. Our host was absolutely AMAZING! I can not say enough great things about her! Thank you Kim for taking such good care of us!
Our room was nice. We had a few nice touches waiting for us in the room. We also had a nice balcony overlooking the river. I was excited about this because I planned to have morning coffee out there but mother nature had other ideas, so, we just enjoyed the view from inside! lol
We ate at the buffet 3X (had breakfast, lunch and dinner on 3 different occasions). All were very good...breakfast was good, but they were about to put things away and prepare for lunch so not all items were out. They did tell us this before we went in to eat. It was ok. Things were still good, just not a huge selection by that time. Lunch and dinner were very good, in my opinion. The lines were crazy long, so I suggest that if you plan to eat there, go early. Luckily we had VIP entrance and did not have to wait in line, but if we had, definitely go early to cue.
The other restaurant we visited was the roadhouse type one (I forgot the name...sorry). It had a great bar and the food was very good! The bar drinks were great too! We went for breakfast one day and then again for lunch/dinner and once just to get away from the loosing casino floor and had drinks at the bar. We met some great folks there and had a great time chatting with them as well as the fun bartender.
The walk to the shops at the board walk was easily accessible! We went and enjoyed some shopping (well, I did, my husband tolerated it! lol)
The casino floor is nice, and had LOTS to choose from. All they typical casino games as well as table games. Sadly, the games were not at all kind to us, however, we still had a good time trying to win something. I can say, this is the first time we've gambled where after 3 days NEITHER of us won a darn dime! ugh...
We even drove to the horse races and tried our luck there...NOTHING, NADA, ZIP. We could not pick the right ponies for nothing!. Go figure. Just wasn't our time I guess.
The staff, for the most part were nice. There were a few that must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed, because they had serious bad attitude. I just killed them with kindness and moved on. Life is too short for that kind of 'tude. But, like I said, the majority were very nice and helpful. Dealers, hotel staff, waitresses/waiters, valet attendants, etc, were friendly and welcoming.
Well done Margaritaville, Well done. (except for the gambling, lol...)

Museum chronicles more than four centuries of American and European art featuring the works of Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell. The springtime sees more than 10,000 azaleas bloom in the museum's garden.
Got to spend an early morning at this Gallery, but had to leave early due to a luncheon they were having that afternoon.
It's a great place to visit with much to offer, not only the art work, but dolls, sculptures and weaponry. A little bit of everything for different interests.
The docents were very
knowledgeable and helpful.
Wished we had planned better and allowed time to explore the gardens.
Will definitely spend more time there on our next visit.

Shreveport's first water works was built in 1887. A National Historic Landmark. Free admission.
This is one of the most unique museums ever. Fascinating to learn of advances in clean water. Really good displays-- and this is the actual equipment. Beautiful Bayou location.

The Red River is the picturesque setting for Bossier City's unique shopping and entertainment destination, Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets. Across the Red River from downtown Shreveport, the project's first phase opened in November, 2003, with the state's first Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World. The remainder of Boardwalk opened in May 2005 and joined a vibrant casino district nestled along the majestic riverfront for nearly a half-mile. Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets is the first lifestyle center to open in the state of Louisiana offering outlet shopping, an entertainment district and riverfront dining.
Stopped at bass pro walked around shopping. Not sure how I’d like it when it’s hot but was a nice day.

Sci-Port Discover Center is a 92,000 square-foot science and entertainment center made up of Louisiana’s Space and Science Center, Power of Play Children’s Museum (POP) and Louisiana’s only IMAX® Dome Theater. Louisiana’s Space and Science Center includes over 200 hands-on exhibits, interactive programs and demonstrations and the Sawyer Space Dome Planetarium. POP is a kid-sized Shreveport-Bossier where kids ages 8 and under can learn through the power of play. The IMAX® Dome Theater immerses guests in award-winning films through state-of-the-art technology. Center accolades include Best Science Attraction for Kids in Louisiana, Attraction of the Year in Louisiana, and one of Parents magazine top ten science centers in the nation. Sci-Port is a member of the Association of Science-Technology Centers, the Association of Children’s Museums and the LA Space Consortium. The Center is located at 820 Clyde Fant Parkway on the downtown Shreveport Riverfront.
The Sci-Port is actually closed for renovations until January of 2018. My rating does NOT reflect what the display were or will be but rather from Oct through Dec 2017, it is CLOSED.

Home of the Super Derby is a world-class track offering both quarter horse and thoroughbred racing.
Me and friends went here for a night out. Had a great time. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. So we went back the next weekend. Look like this is going to be our Saturday night place to go.

Take your pick of over 1,500 slot machines, 50 exciting table games and four gourmet restaurants at this huge casino and resort complex.
Although we had played here for brief periods before, I believe this was our first time actually booking a room. Very nice room and we had a very good time playing in the casino. Staff are very welcoming, beverage service is very good, even on two mid-week nights, and gaming was fun. Had moderate winnings at Mississippi Stud, Video Poker, Slots, and Blackjack. Dealers were pretty tight, understandably, about card shows by adjacent players. Not usually a problem unless you’re trying to teach a wife how to play the game. Definitely looking forward to our next visit.

The Louisiana State Exhibit Museum opened in 1939 as part of the Public Works Administration. It is a Louisiana agriculture, industry, art, and history museum. Admission is free and open to the public and the museum is handicap accessible.
Spent about 1 1/2 hours here. The building is round shaped so you walk around in a circle. A history of the State in dioramas and many exhibits. Another thing I found interesting was quite a collection of signed documents and autographs from the signers of the Declaration of Independence and early presidents and others. This was one of many museums I have been to and I found it interesting and worth the stop.

Facility was average on the inside, but the parking is a giant mess. A venue that can get artists like Paul McCartney should have parking that doesn't consist mainly of grass over the curb parking!!

This casino is easy to get inside and out of the heat/cold. I like the convenience of Harrah's Louisiana Downs/Casino . The property itself is landscaped nicely. Nearby is one of the most popular Mexican Restaurants outside, and inside there is Fuddruckers Hamburgers.
As for the casino, you will find many different machines to choose from. A lot of these machine are in Las Vegas Casinos. Harrah's usually has a promotion going on in the casino where it might be winning chances on a new car or even a water jug! It is a brightly lit floor area filled with plenty of machines to play on. Weekends are a bit more crowded than the weekdays but no matter when one goes there is plenty of excitement and ringing of the bells singling out another WINNER!!
