An awesome place for food, shopping, people watching & exercise. All the high end designers, anchored by big box stores Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's & Nordstrom, are here.
The food court blows all other malls out of the water. Just walking around the mall gives you miles of exercise as you window shop & people watch. If you can't find it here, you aren't trying!

This is a great theatre. Seats are great, except for one thing....they're so comfortable, you might fall asleep. Free refills on popcorn and sodas and super nice personnel. Didn't like the fact that there was only one operational elevator the day we went, but other than that, it was a great experience.

I love this theater. In fact it's the only theater I ever go to! Plus, the fact that you can take in an awesome beer or some fantastic coffee makes it even better. Also, the food is good and always very fresh.

The Detroit Zoo has 125 acres of naturalistic habitats for more than 2,000 animals from anteaters to zebras and features award-winning attractions such as the National Amphibian Conservation Center, Great Apes of Harambee and Arctic Ring of Life. The Zoo’s newest attraction is the spectacular Polk Penguin Conservation Center, the largest facility for penguins in the world.
Although we visit the zoo regularly, we love spending New Year's Eve at the Zoo for Zoo Lights! It is so awesome to walk the park in the dark by the glow of the millions of lights they have depicting various things, as well as the dancing lights! The 4D show, hot chocolate, specialty liquor and beer, and local food favorites are also available.

The Franklin Cider Mill will forever be my favourite - I grew up going there for a doughnut after school in the fall and they just bring back great memories. The cider is crisp, the doughnuts are fresh, and they have all kinds of wonderful jams, cheeses, and produce. Just remember to bring cash!

Troy's nature center has several easy trails for a stroll or jog. You will see deers, turkeys and other wildlife along the way. Classes and demos all year around for adults and kids. Free admission by joining as a member will bring you updates.

Although admission is a bit pricey it is well worth it. The exhibits, both permanent and temporary are full of fun, informational, and interactive features right on Cranbrook's beautiful campus. The traveling Chocolate exhibit was really neat, featuring interesting facts and history about the sweet treat. The rest of the museum had displays about both world and Michigan geographical/science history. There is a cafe on site but it was closed on the Saturday we went on. We would come back when the exhibits change around again as its a great local attraction and learning environment!

Came here for Free Sunday Open House and what a great time! Fun activities for the kids from candle-making to cornhole. They had a food truck (NoshPit Detroit) parked, and mens and womens bathrooms with 3 stalls each, including a baby changing tray in the womens. They have a small gift shop in the main building with a variety of items, nothing super expensive. Most expensive I saw was about $25 for a Troy Historical Village themed wooden plaque. Candy sticks were a quarter each, mugs $14. Parking is small but close and paved. Many seating areas, both outside and in each building. Beautiful landscaping.

A arts-oriented granddaughter was visiting with us from Philly so we took her to our neighborhood art museum on the Cranbrook campus. We were quite impressed with the range of creative works that designer Girard (I forget his first name) had created --beautiful stuff!

The Detroit Shoppe is located on the top level of Michigan's premier shopping mall, The somerset Collection. The store carries a wide assortment of items from both Detroit's past and present. There's great gifts for yourself or someone else.
