A late creation by area standards, Bergisch Gladbach was founded in 1856 as a city district comprising several smaller (and older) towns, with a total population of about 105,000. The 10th-century St. Johann Baptist Church at Refrath is Bergisch Gladbach's oldest building. The Bensberg Rathaus (or town hall, nicknamed "Affenfelsen," or Monkey Rock) is a nationally known tourist attraction. Schloss Bensberg and Schloss Lerbach, both former castles, are now among Germany's top luxury hotels.

Half-timbered houses in a green valley landscape, streams and a rattling mill wheel - this is how the former paper mill Alte Dombach welcomes visitors. Today, the LVR Industrial Museum in Bergisch Gladbach can be found at this location with its charming atmosphere. Its exhibition is dedicated to the material paper - a product that has become an indispensable part of our everyday life.

A lots of different saunas(10) ,all beautiful, special and personalised.I loved the Inhalation sessions with the mint, tiger balm or eucalyptus. A special thanks for Ant for fantastic"aufgus"(steam procedure).Nice Himalaya salt cave for relaxation, 4 elements sauna with the unusual rituals( TO SEE!),the Buena Vista sauna with "dance el fuego" : staff/dancers dancing Argentine tango in the sauna and doing the steam procedure at the same time ! Very good value for money. Nice thermal water swimming pools, indoor and outdoor, magnesium Jacuzzi. Only one minus:the staff very strictly supervising this magnesium procedure:"I've told you not to do peeling"!!!-shouted on me one yang lady...Inappropriate behaviour regarding customers. There are a few restaurants.I was dining in the Villa Verde, gastronomic restaurant where you can have the candlelight dinner wearing the dressing gown and slippers. The service is ok, but for me personally the good service was lacking. More staff than customers but ,no attention, nobody asked if everything going all right or do i missing something. I've ordered the sea plate:the mussels was overdone, scallops too, pulp perfect, very soft, white wine, grauburgunder lovely:) Overall i was very relaxing day. Very recommend and will definitely coming back!!!
