The Erewash valley trail was part of our new years day very cold walk, along the canal heading back towards Ilkeston it was quite busy with other people all out on an icy start to 2021, well worth a stroll.

We are a traditional real ale pub situated in the centre of Beeston, Nottingham. Serving a range of drinks including cask conditioned ales, craft beers, real ciders, draught lager and stout, we also stock a range of gins and whiskies.
Crown inn of Besston is easily the best one in the town, vibrant atmosphere, excellent quick and friendly service by the bar staff, marvellous choices of alcohol, well worth a pint or two.

This beautiful small nature reserve is accessed through the Nottingham Science Park (opposite the childrens playground and Lakeside Arts complex at Highfields Park). You can get to it either by the road (straight ahead, gate in top right hand corner) or via the wooden `Lilypad` path (turn off between the colourful buildings). We saw baby rabbits by the roadside near the start of the path during our visit which the kids loved. An oasis of calm and peacefulness this reserve (a former railway marshalling yard, I believe) is centred around Dunkirk Pond (used by a local Angling Club) and there is a very pleasant circular walk to enjoy the views and the wildlife. One of the prettiest nature reserves we`ve seen and its well worth a visit if you`re in the area..

Sat 26/10/19 Ska band who were absolutely brilliant from start to finish & in todays climate of pubs closing everywhere, thank god the Chequers still offers the average bloke in the street who works hard a good nights entertainment with no entry fee which in itself is very rare ! We love coming here & although in the week its not so busy there are still people drinking & socialising which is what its about. We dont agree with a previous review by Nicholas K albeit his opinion but working in a pub involves tidying & cleaning so perhaps work somewhere else. Good owners giving good value entertainment FREE & a nice clean place so we thank them.
