The beautiful Bay St. Louis train depot, built in 1928, houses the visitors center, where visitors can get information about businesses and attractions in the Bay St. Louis area, the Mardi Gras Museum, featuring beautiful Mardi Gras costumes and the Alice Moseley Folk Art and Antique Museum. The depot itself is set in a park like setting featuring many Live Oak trees, picnic tables, benches, and a walking path. Duck food can be purchased in the visitor center and many ducks and geese are waiting to be fed at the duck pond on the depot grounds. There is a lot to do and enjoy at the depot and to learn the history of this building and of the difficulties experienced in earlier times maintaining a railroad across the nearby Honey Island Swamp. The Alice Moseley Museum is an entertainment venue as much as it is a Museum and visitors to see Miss Alice usually leave the Museum with a smile on their face and a love of Alice Moseley in their hearts.
Others have mentioned the Carter Church Mardi Gras costumes on display and the Alice Mosley folk art upstairs. Seems like the reviews for this and the Alice Mosley Folk Art & Museum ought to be combined since they're in the same building. Be sure to look through the before and after Katrina pictures in the album kept downstairs. Nice staff in both museum areas.

Alice Moseley loved this depot and loved all the beautiful Live Oak trees that surround it and she would have been delighted that her beautiful folk art and her son's antiques have such a wonderful home. The Museum contains over 50 of Alice Moseley's original paintings and Tim Moseley's lifetime collection of art pottery, majolica, glass and primitive furniture. Playing at all times in the Museum is Alice Moseley on her DVD telling her stories and displaying for our visitors the unique and funny and talented person that she was. The Alice Moseley Museum is a Museum, but it is also an entertainment venue. Come to the Alice Moseley Museum and you will leave with a smile on your face and a love of an old lady whose favorite saying was, "Your reach should always exceed your grasp." She is still reaching out to you. Come see her Museum while you are in Bay St. Louis. Admission free. Museum Curator Geri Bleau will show you around.
Great renovation on this historic building. Wonderful that Alice Moseley's artwork is there. This building was very important to Bay St Louis. Glad it has been repurpues

Amazing crab buffet! Monday - Wednesday it is half price! $15! They even make funnel cakes on demand! Decent selection of slots. Live keno. Could use a $5 craps table. They only have $10 tables. Staff friendly. Great location right off the beach!

If you're looking for Caribbean-quality, fine sand, clear water beaches- this is not the place. The water has an orangish tint (because of the clay soil from the area), and the sand is imported from Florida. But there are no crowds, and plenty of good fishing and crabbing spots. The water is very shallow so you can wait around and find all sorts of crabs and flounders and such. It's a great place for photography, and the nearby pier and harbor are a great place to read and relax. In addition, Bay St. Louis is a lovely area with a great atmosphere. Weekends are nice- the nearby restaurants all play live music then. It's amazing. It's not great for swimming, but great for those who just wanna relax.

Wonderful Mass, we could take part. The local community is infinitely open and kind. The Mass opened us very deeply. Two days later, we listened to a WONDERFUL gospel concert here. In addition to the beautiful small church cemetery is a peaceful place. Thank You Saint Rose de Lima!

Buffet with Southern, Italian, & Seafood choices. The steak & mashed potato with other veggies was my dinner choice. It was delicious. Lots of desserts choices plus ice cream choices. We walked right in but I have heard sometimes there is a waiting line.

We attended Sunday services at this church and I really loved the paintings on the wooden ceilings. They were very beautiful!

The 100 Men Hall is an historic Blues music venue on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Hall, as it is locally known, was a stop on the Chitlin' Circuit in the 1930's - 60's and hosted several well-known artists including, Etta James, Deacon John, Big Joe Turner, Guitar Slim & numerous others. In 2011, The Hall received a Blues Trail Marker from The Mississippi Blues Commission and became a 501(c)3 fund of the Hancock Community Development Foundation. In June 2011 The Hall was resurrected as a live music venue and has recently hosted Little Freddie King, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, The Homemade Jamz Band, Howl-N-Madd Perry and others.
Writing a review of a place unfortunately closed when we had to keep moving isn't fun. If you get a chance and are into the Blues, I trust you'll fare better than we did getting into this little gem when it's grittin' out some serious melancholia.
However, we managed to find a substitute way to drown our own blues locally in some fresh spiced seafood and a few delicious beers before moving on. We need intimate venues like 100 Men Hall, collecting, living and spreading a world renowned culture of great American sound.

First time to see a show at the Bay St. Louis Little Theatre, now celebrating it's 70th season. The theatre itself, a historic building rescued from the wrecking ball, is amazing in and of itself, and a testament to the determination of this hurricane-ravaged-community to keep their beloved community theatre alive. "The Ransom of Red Chief" was a delightful production starring 22 community actors, and included 8 local children. The production was, well, community theatre, but with passion and soul. The 3 lead actors were exceptional. And the 11-year-old star, in his first leading role, was amazing. Great lighting and sound, and not a bad seat in the house. This small seaside community is lucky to have such a gem in it's midst. Worthy of ongoing support by the local communities, and a must-see for visitors. I'll definitely be back.

I try never to miss an art opening at Smith & Lens. These two creative dynamos have a wonderful eye for the unusual, & a seemingly endless well of creative ideas for incorporating art into one's everyday life.
