We only visited for a day hike but can imagine how wonderful a longer stay would be. A short stroll on the beach listening to the sound of the waves and then a short drive up the road to where we hiked up to the lookouts to gasp at the fall colours and the views over Lake Superior. A plaque at the viewpoint explained the tragic wreck of the Great Lake ship the Edmund Fitzgerald and pointed to where it went down. A great forest trail and amazing staircase made this very memorable- wear good sturdy shoes.

Lots lot picnic tables are available along the shore. Some in the woods, others more in the sun and near the beach.

The rest area features a very significant plaque, telling that Chippewa Falls is the Trans Canada Highway's halfway point. There is also a sidewalk and a viewing platform to truly appreciate the beauty of the falls. We arrived in a rainy day so the falls are stronger. There are also washrooms in the area, though I would suggest to hold it in for 8 more minutes until you get to the better washrooms at Batchawana Bay Provincial Park.
