I've always loved historic New England cemeteries, with tombstones dating back centuries. Hope Cemetery isn't quite that old, but the iconic sculptures place it in its own category. One could spend a few hours looking at these sculptures and reading the epitaphs. There are also several mausoleums and columbaria, and most the mausoleums have stained glass. The Vandetti mausoleum with its stained glass depiction of the Last Supper was my favorite. I did a 60-mile detour just to see this during a foliage-viewing road trip, and it was worth every mile.

We had the opportunity to visit BSH during our recent foliage tour of Vermont in October 2017. BSH is a pleasant stop along our day where we learned the hosting and work behind Maple syrup and the tapping of the trees. Unfortunately we were not there during the approximate six weeks in late winter, early spring when the sap is harvested. No problem, via video tour and live narration, the staff showed us the basics. Their gift shop is adequately stocked with the necessary Vermont memorabilia except for the inventory zI replaced with my dollars. Doug runs a fine place and when I later realized I left a hat I bought elsewhere on the counter I called him. His staff secured my hat and when is going to ship it to me. I need to return. A sweater we bough in the wrong size and they will return my hat with it. Make a point of stopping here. It was a great experience.

This place rocks! Best mountain biking in the area. From beginners to serious mountain bike enthusiasts, Millstone is the place to be. Awesome views from scenic lookouts and historical interest (the touring center winds through abandoned granite quarries) mixed with great cycling make this a must-visit if you bike and are going to be in Vermont.

The world's largest quarry.
We arrived too late in the day for a tour, but we were able to walk around and see the different colors of granite and take in the film shown in the Visitor Center. There are many interesting gifts for purchase in the Center, many of them made from granite. Would love to go back sometime and do the tour of the mining area.

Gold dome building located in Montpelier.
This is one of the few, if any, state capital buildings where you can walk around by yourself (If the legislature is not in asession at the time - we visited on Saturday). However, I recommend taking the tour, which lasts about 45minutes and is very informative. Our guide was great, with numerous stories. On the tour, you can actually go into both the house and senate chambers, as well as the ceremonial governor’s office. A must do if in Montpelier.

Here's a little gem ...right on my door step. We have attended two events (concerts) lately , both national known acts. It was astounding to see both shows as sell outs.
Some points..I have been attending concerts for a majority of my life, in wide variety of locations throughout the North east . The opera house is a very small venue. Holds about 1000 people.
I love the acoustics of the BOH.
The seating although dated is roomy and comfortable.
The tickets are affordable and easily accessible. .phone and online.
The crowd and the operating group..are manageable and efficient.
Note..they allow no pictures and recording. .their almost oppresive about this.
So get your tickets early..come early as parking can be spotty.

Free sugar house tours and tasting, multimedia displays in a real woodshed theater, a nature trail, country store, and an outdoor Vermont farm life museum make up the Morse Farm experience, and sprinkled throughout, are whimsical carved folklife characters created by Burr Morse.
My daughter found this place for our vacation so we went there and really enjoyed the farm. The Morse family are very entertaining & colorful as they tell of the Maple farm. The matriarchs of the family give tours and educate the workings of the farm with their story telling style of talk. You can see the "network " piping of the Maple trees how all the trees are tied together.
The farm is nestled among the Vermont hills with it's scenic views surrounded by the colorful hardwoods in the Fall. They have a nice gift shop that sells the syrup and even maple ice cream as well as books they have written plus novelty gifts & crafts. I highly recommend if you're in that neck of the woods to visit the Morse Farm.

Running from May to the end of August on most Thursday evenings at 6.30 and some weekends this quarter mile oval features budding NASCAR drivers in a variety of different classes. The event is run very slickly with he next race already on track as the victor takes his victory lap. Great fun plenty of spectacle, incident and only $10 for an adult . Money well spent give it a try for true all American entertainment.

Made my first visit to this facility to recently to do genealogy research- located on the second floor. I was able to find resources that were not available online or elsewhere- but the painstaking cataloging of information and most impressive librarian staff I have worked with at a genealogy library set it above other places. While I did not make additional discoveries I was able to deepen my references for those I am researching. My planned 2 hour visit quickly grew to nearly 4 hours with plenty to come back for. The fee of $7.00 seemed reasonable given the proficiency of the staff and the organization of materials they have. Their current policy allowed for me to photograph materials which helped me to research at a much quicker pace than requesting copies for a fee from staff.
