After visiting the museum, Burns Cottage and Auld Kirk I love to spend a few hours just walking around, down to Brigadoon, then go up inside the monument to appreciate the views. When quiet this place is so peaceful, lots of benches to just sit and enjoy the views, beauty and peace of this special place

Roughly one-mile scenic walking trail along the seacoast, suitable for wheelchairs. Start: Car park at Miller’s Folly on Cromwell’s Fort. End: Blackburn Car Park.
Lovely flat walk, which for an arthritis sufferer makes life a bit easier. Beautiful scenery along the front of Ayr and we were blessed with a gorgeous sunny autumn day.

My 3 children adored this in 2019. They had excellent tuition and the final day where they showed their acquired skills in a show was a delight. I hope they will run it again when the next two will be old enough to go.

Birthplace of poet Robert Burns.
although we stay a 45 minute drive away, this was our first visit. This is a National Trust for Scotland property and I must say, very modern, bright, informative and the staff very friendly and helpful. The cafe was excellent, good home made products with prices cheaper than many other cafe in the area. The museum was very interesting with lots to see about our Rabbie. Then of course you can walk over to the Auld Kirk, Rabbie's birthplace, the monument and the Brig O' Doon. (the bridge over the river, not the hotel)you can spend an excellent few hours seeing and more than likely realising that Robert Burns contributed a lot more to our Scottish heritage than we knew. Even on a wet day it is a place to go to. There is also a children's outside play area when the weather is good. Helps the little ones from being too board with culture. The gift shop is well worth a visit. This is certainly a place where we shall visit again soon.

Great Fun come rain or shine. Massive indoor soft play, laser storm, American Diner serving massive homemade burgers, outdoor funpark and mini golf.
So glad I brought my 2 year old in for a rainy day, it was perfect to keep her zooming around for a couple of hours! She loves the ball pit in the new toddler area and they have air cannons I’ve not seen anywhere else that fire foam balls and balance them up on streams of air (fun for me too tbh)! There’s also an under-5s and older kids area that’s 4 or 5 levels high which we’ll be back to try. I like that the play areas are in the middle, surrounded by arcade, restaurant, cafe, toy/sweet counter and general seating so you can sit and watch or do a few laps round with the kids. And the bonus is that it’s all next to Ayr beach, with a redecorated cafe (she loved the bubble gum ice cream) facing the sea so kids can get a run outside too when weather’s good. Overall great value, more of a one stop than other local soft plays we’ve been too that only have climbing frames and food but little else. Defo recommend.

Ayr Racecourse is Scotland’s only Grade 1 track and is known to host some of the best horse racing in Scotland, both in the flat racing and the jumps. The beautifully located course is home to the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival in April and the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival in September. In 2018 Ayr Racecourse have a record of 37 fixtures, many of which have live entertainment and first class hospitality offerings. Ayr Racecourse is also home to a fabulous multi award winning four star Western House Hotel and one of the country’s largest and most unique conference centres. Banquets, gala balls, exhibitions, conferences and car launches are just some of the functions that the well-appointed Princess Royal Conference and Events Centre can host in comfort. There really is something for everyone at Scotland’s premier racecourse.
Has to be one of the best racecourses in Britain. I have visited a number of times over the last 10 years. We love the town and holiday there every couple of years so always arrange our holiday to take in a meeting or 2 I own a couple of horses and find the owners and trainers facliities very good

Friends took us to the brae whilst in the area, we sat in the car, let the handbreak off and sure enough appeared to roll uphill, we did the same with a football, we watched it appear to roll uphill, great fun, the weather was good, just take care of the traffic on the road, but great fun
