Hanuman Garhi Mandir

Reviewed By VIPIN_GOEL_TP_Impex - New Delhi, India

Located in the middle of Ayodhya, Hanuman Garhi is 1 km from Ayodhya railway station. We reached here around 8pm. Remove your shoes and socks or slippers at any Prashad Shop. Around 76 steps lead to the main temple, it is one of the most popular temple complexes of Lord Hanuman in North India. The temple is very colourful with red and green as prominent colours. You will find here a beautiful idol of Bal (young) sitting on lap of Maa Anjani. Several small temples and Satsang halls are also there. It is a custom and belief that before visiting Ram temple one should first pay visit to Lord Hanuman temple. Take care on Tuesdays as you will find long ques to reach the main temple.

Besides the displays and the wonderful carvings, the place has a wonderful library. Excellent collections of rare books on Ayodhya, and a very helpful librarian. She took the time to show us some of her books and invited us to come back and see Ramlila by Indonesian artists the next evening. We could not make the time, but we sure had a great time there. Recommended.
