Designated the capital city of Kazakhstan in the late 1990s, Astana boasts a landscape glittering with new architecture and construction projects as the government infrastructure continues to be built. Old and new quarters of the city are divided by the Ishim River, with older, Soviet era structures on the north side while the governmental quarter and monuments like the monolithic Bayerek Tower spread out to the south. The central Avenue of the Republic is a hub of entertainment and business.

Located on the west part of Astana city center. You could see this structure standing tall with its beautiful landscape in front of it. It close to Khan Shatyr and other attractions nearby.

A must visit of this Mosque to have a complete visit to Astana. A very well organized mosque, which I performed Friday prayer it. The provided facilities, outdoor piazza and ablution area are awesome. The Islamic art and calligraphies indoor are great too.

The TA photo is of Nurzhol Bulvar, which is great, but not City/Central Park. I was there in September. The weather is cooler and City/Central park was largely closed. It is very large. In addition to trees, grass, flowers, etc., there are rides and booths for children. The Park is clean, has plenty of benches and is lovely. I'd come back in warmer weather.

Stands out like a sore thumb over the flat landscape of Astana but not that high and due to intrusive markings on windows not as good a view as you would expect. Worth £1.50 charged but would not bother again.

During the day, during the week I had a solo English speaking tour included in my 600 TSE ticket (under $2 USD). The design is fantastic, with an elevator that moves at an angle. The top level, where most important meetings are held, has an other worldly feel, with lots of light and doves on the stained glass. The small elevator is only for the use of the President and his guests. Other architectural features were also impressive. My guide, who spoke too softly, so I'm lucky it was just me, talked about her life in Kazakhstan (she is trained as an English teacher, but wants to join the military. Her father wouldn't let her.)

This museum was but under impressive architecture but it is way too large for its collection resulting in many empty spaces, no logical walking routes. The museum could do with better maps to point out highlights. Signage can be improved as well. While new, the building already shows signs of significant deterioration (toilets notably). While I was there the way too large foyer was filled with visible and smelly coal smoke.

This extraordinary mall has a fascinating design and is great for wondering around for one or two hours. There are many (international) shops (that I have not found in Atyrau yet) and there are plenty of F&B outlets, even, I am told a tropical swimming paradise. All specifics regarding design (Norman Forster), please refer to the guide books

The Nur Astana mosque is close to the Nurzhol boulevard, It is am impressive sight, especially with the sun shining on its golden domes. The mosque welcomes visitors (also non-moslims) of course assuming if they behave and dress appropriately. The prayer hall is large and the decor is calming and serene, but overall the mosque is more impressive from the outside than the inside.

It is a nice for place a stroll, has lots of restaurants and cafes, places to sit, and alongside you can find less crowded hideaways and parks. You can actually walk all the way to the Ak Orda and the Pyramid.

Good size stadium with good seats. Clear Seating areas with good space for your legs. Good view to the field from most areas. Easy to reach and enough parking places.
