Although undergoing some landscape renovations, the Law School Quad is worth walking through. Make sure to visit the Law Library, which extends several floors underground in the expansion from about 1980. It is wonderful to walk below and see the grand architecture looming above. The Great Hall is also wonderful--reminds me of some of the great universities of Europe.

I lived in Ann Arbor for 12 years. I went to undergrad and grad school at UM and loved my time there. The SNRE, PitE, SoE and RC are my real homes. If you are looking into a small school "within as school" feeling, you should check out the residential college in East Quad. The Secondary Masters of Education program is also top notch.

Matthaei Botanical Gardens

A 300-acre garden with a variety of outdoor displays and nature trails for exploring.

Reviewed By MyTwoCent s - Orlando, Florida

Went here as a big-kids sibling gettogether, and we all had a really great time. The regular plants on display were great, and varied - liked how they have them sectioned off into different growth areas, like desert, tropical, etc. Special exhibit when we went were a display of clothing made out of plant materials! They had real human sized "clothing" - from elaborate ball gowns to a men's suit jacket- then they also had fairy clothing! It was scattered and hidden throughout the whole facility, so you really had to keep your eyes open to spot them. There was a lot of "Did you see this one yet?" being called out as we split up. There is a small art exhibit along the hallways outside the gardens as well which was also a pleasure to see. Not a big facility by any means, but was a pleasant day outing. Bathrooms are spacious and handy, and the coat room was MUCH appreciated. The gift shop has lovely items. Would visit again!

Among the best university art museums in the U.S., this on-campus museum has a particularly fine collection of Asian art through the ages.

The UMMA is located in downtown Ann Arbor and has a collection of over 20.000 artworks. After their renovation, the galleries are showing more of their collection in beautiful displays. My favorites were the wooden displays which had amazing additional artworks in its drawers. By pulling each drawer, you were discovering another inspiring artwork hidden in them. Such a nice surprise! Love the Tiffany collection. Highly recommended! Don’t miss this unique museum.
