Top 10 Things to do in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore

March 5, 2022 Roger Rusk

The Singapore cityscape looks like it was ripped from the pages of a science fiction comic book. If you’re hungry for a true Singapore experience, sample the myriad street foods or take a cultural cooking class. The Botanic Gardens and the Gardens By the Bay offer a slice of horticultural heaven, and the observation deck of the Sands SkyPark makes you feel like you’re high above the clouds. The banks and walkways along the Singapore River bustle with local activity.

Lower Peirce Reservoir Park

Reviewed By Kim025Singapore - Singapore, Singapore

The Lower Peirce Reservoir, Singapore's second-oldest reservoir, was built by impounding the upper reaches of the Kallang River (the longest river in Singapore) and was commissioned in 1912. Hence it was originally named Kallang River Reservoir. In 1922, the reservoir was renamed the Peirce Reservoir in recognition of Robert Peirce, who was the Municipal Engineer of Singapore from 1901 to 1916. It acquired its current name in 1975, after the Upper Peirce Reservoir was built. This reservoir is like a compact MacRitchie Reservoir as the boardwalk trails, playground, fishing area and walking path around the reservoir with its draw-off tower are all within short walking distance. In fact it probably takes less than 1.5 hours to cover the Lower Pierce Reservoir. There are marvellous views of the rolling golf course of the Singapore Island Country Club and the Upper Pierce Reservoir. Although the boardwalk is only 900 m long, it is a peaceful walk by the water’s edge through a mature secondary forest. A plant seen along the walk is the Ant Plant (home for ants). The ant and this plant have a symbiotic relationship. The ant depends on this plant for its food while the plant is protected from being eaten up by other insects by the resident ant. The Nibong Palm, also seen here, has many thorns on its trunk. As the plot of land adjacent to it was formerly a rubber plantation, many rubber trees are also seen here. There are informative signboard along the boardwalk to educate about the flora and fauna of this forest.

AMK Hub

Reviewed By Deeparm - Singapore, Singapore

This place is definitely not a great place for shopping, but has good choices of food available. Tried the new Indian Cuisine in Foodfare, level 3 and it was really good. This Indian Cuisine stall is at the end of food court and had great varieties of vegetables and non veg food. We tried their South Indian Set meal, Prata and Biriyani and it was yum!! Quantity and Quality was superb! Good service I would say. Will definitely recommend.
