Founded in 1986, Abita was the first craft brewery to open in the Southeast. Today, we produce 160,000 barrels of beer annually in a range of great tasting, unpretentious styles including Abita Amber, Purple Haze, and Wrought Iron IPA. Located just north of New Orleans, we recently completed a three-year, $30 million state-of-the-art expansion of the brewery that will increase our capacity to 400,000 barrels while introducing groundbreaking environmental advancements to the brewing process.
Chelsea was our guide and she was very sweet and informative. Didn’t realize how massive Abita Brewery had become. Tastings after tour was great. Bartender went above and beyond to make us happy. Bartenders very attentive in bar area. Nice day trip for us!

Things to do in Covington or New Orleans, LA
We expected to be walking around fenced off areas looking for alligators. Instead we were plesantly surprised to receive humorous, informative talks from Joe & Royce. Plus the opportunity for hands on experience (with the alligators). We came away with a different perception of alligators.

My review focuses on the state owned/operated cabins overlooking the lake. We visit Mandeville once a year to bicycle on the Tammany Trace trails which pass through Fountainbleu State Park. We recently noticed the rental cabins and decided to give them a try instead of staying in a hotel in Mandeville.
We found the cabins to be well equipped and comfortable. Each cabin has two bedrooms, 1 bath, a kitchen, a living room and a porch (or two) with rocking chairs. However, it is the location that is most appealing. Watching the sun set from the cabin is a nice way to end the day. It was nice having the kitchen for breakfast preparation. We sampled nearby restaurants on some evening and cooked in on other evenings. Staying in the cabins five nights allowed time to enjoy bicycling and the neighboring communities (Mandeville, Covington, Abita Springs, Lacombe, etc.) was the perfect amount of time. It reminded me of the simple pleasures of my southern childhood. We have already made reservations for another stay.

I love this place. Its weird, and quirky! If you like things that make you go, hmmmm, this is the place for you! It's nestled at the edge of Abita Springs town square, in a little old gas station that reminds you of a time gone by. I've been more than a half a dozen times and see something different and new every time that I go. I jump at the opportunity to introduce this place to someone when I find out that they've never been. I love the owner/artists creativity and style and would love to see more. It would be awesome for it to expand with more exhibits!!
The only semi-negative that I have is that its starting to look a little run down. The courtyard area in the back is a little overgrown and losing it's luster. I think it would take very little effort to get this place back to it's former glory.....that, and maybe change the water occasionally for those poor turtles :(
Other than that, this place place is great....and only $3 to visit!

The Hardware store is awesome, you can find some really cool stuff you need or didn't know you need. The adjacent museum is the treat, a self-guided experience into old Louisiana and downtown Covington. I've walked thru many times, always see something new.

What a wonderful time! We started the trace at the Covington Trailhead on Saturday near the Covington Brewery then rode to the Abita brewery where they were barbecuing outside. Gorgeous day great trail and wonderful fun doing something other than dinner and a movie. If you have a bike I truly recommend this. If not you can rent a bike from Brooks Bike Shop in Covington.

The Abita Springs Farmers Market is held in the Abita Springs Trailhead/Park. Vendors display organic produce, homemade breads and desserts, and crafts made by local citizens! A lovely way to support the community and enjoy a beautiful outing in the park. Children love to play in the dancing fountain and explore the handicap accessible playground. The market is open from 12 -4 on Sundays, but get there early for the best selections!

Time Travel is a reality. The Time Displacement Institute (“TDI”) was created by the Federal Government to monitor and fix illegal changes to the existing timeline. You and your friends are visiting TDI for a tour of the facility when sirens and alarms are blaring in your ears. With no time to spare, you and your friends are enlisted to travel in time to resolve the situation. We are open extended hours during most holidays.
We were looking to do something different for date night and came across this. We had a great time and will go back soon. Thank goodness were grouped with another couple that had done an escape room before or we would have never figured it out. We may be able to do it by ourselves next time but definitely wouldn't suggest first timers to go it alone. Great adventure and close to home!!

We are a quaint art and history museum. Our mission is to celebrate, display and support the history and culture of Abita Springs and to present the work of local artists.
Abita is one of my favorite trailhead. There is a cool museum that was a train depot and a nice gazebo and playground for the kids. There is a good restaurant beside the trailhead too. If you have bikes, it's great to go from one trailhead to the next. They are around 4ish miles apart. Otherwise it's very peaceful for walking. The trail is all paved and there is a ranger on duty who rides the trail. It does close at dark so plan accordingly so you don't get stuck between trailheads as it's getting dark.

This is a very good place to watch a movie, comfortable reserved seats, food and drink brought right to your seat.
When I reserved these seats on-line, I also joined the movie tavern club ( for free) and got a free small popcorn today. So why not join?.
They now have a brunch menu before 2 pm, I think 2 but we ordered at 11 am. So my son and I had eggs with sausage and hash browns, nice movie food for a movie starting at 11 am. I got mine with a $5 bloody mary - you can't beat that for a per-noon movie.
My wife and daughter split a tomato basil soup and a cranberry pecan salad, but they were not too happy with their service dressing not on the side, and difficult get or no water brought to them.
My bloody Mary and eggs were fine and brought fairly timely.
Definitely need to get there 30 mins min ahead of the advertised movie start time to make sure you get your food and drink order in before the movie starts, and maybe even eat some of it before the theatre goes dark.
Can't wait until the next "(not) last Jedi" movie, sadly without princess Leia Organa(Carrie Fisher) we presume - although she was in this one.
